Lauren's P.O.V
"Steve, what about this one?" I spoke, shifting the laptop slightly so he could see it.

"Yeah, yeah it's great!" He said, not looking up from his script he had in one hand while he was taking a sip of his coffee in the other.

I sighed, "Steve. Do you even care about this? Like, should I just stop looking?"

"No! No no no, Laur. Look, I've got a lot on today. Save the links for the houses and I'll have a look when I have time." He quickly rushes over and leans down to place a kiss on my head, which I move away. "Lauren, c'mon." He says as I slowly look at him.

I sigh once more, "sorry. Just cranky." I fake a smile, something that he picks up on straight away.

"Yeah. Sure." He spoke in a slight moody tone but softly at the same time as he leaned down and this time, kissed me on the lips which I returned. "Alright, be ready by half one so we can go to that appointment." He said, smiling. I stood up with a frustrated look on my face.

"Wait, half one? Four hours? Steven. I didn't get to see you yesterday. Or the day before. We got back from England three days ago and I've seen you for maybe five minutes each day. Plus you came home late yesterday and I was already asleep so I didn't see you at all since you were gone when I woke up too. I know this sounds selfish but you need to spread your schedule out more." I finished, getting annoyed by his, once again, busy day.

He kissed me once more, before placing his hand on the small of my back. "It's just this week, then next week we can pack everything up and move. Thennn we can shop." He said the last part excitedly which confused me.

"Shop? I thought you hated shopping?" I asked, wanting to know what he meant.

He walked behind me and snaked his arms around my waist and rested his hands on my stomach. "After the scan we might know the gender so..."

"Woah woah woah! I don't wanna know! You can but don't tell me." I spoke with a chuckle.

"Okay okay. We can buy everything cream." He laughs and so do I, his arms still around my waist.

"No I will show you something I find cute in cream then you have to find it in pink or blue." I said perkily, liking the idea of us spending time together. But unfortunately, it was at the end of the week.

"Right, I better go, see you two later." He kissed my cheek and stroked my stomach before leaving.

"Alone once more." I spoke to no one in particular.

I heard Steven's car beep viscously, over and over again. Since it was now 1:45pm and our appointment is at 1:55pm, he was obviously rushing. We wanted to set off early since it's a ten to twenty minute drive. And that's the last appointment they had left today.
I quickly rushed out, making sure to grab my phone and keys, plus lock the door and then get in the car.

"Why are you late??" I said, a tone of frustration and annoyance in my voice.

"Traffic. Traffic fucking everywhere." He spoke quickly before driving again, giving me little time to put my seatbelt on.

He swerved in and out of cars and I was sure that we would have a speeding ticket at the end of this madness.

"Steven. Calm down. We'll get there! Now stop before we have an accident!" I shouted, actually fearing my life.

"Okay okay, just hold on a second!" He shouted back as he slowed down bit by bit before coming to a normal speed. I sighed in relief and soon enough we were here.

We both, walked in hand in hand, signed in to say we were here and sat down. It was nearly 2pm but by the looks of the waiting room, they were delayed.

We were soon called in, slowly making our way to the room that the women said to go to.

After a few awkward moments just sitting on the bed, waiting, the nurse strolled in and apologised for taking so long.

She told us about what we could do for the baby's safety and what precautions we need to take. She added on some helpful information, some of which we knew but not all.

"Alright, so if you could just lay down we can see how the baby is doing." She spoke with a smile and sounding like she was one of them happy workers, one that would always have a smile on there faces. I did as she said and pulled my top half way up so she could put the gel on my lower stomach. She warned me about the coldness of the gel before it made contact with my skin, making me shiver slightly.

An image soon popped up on the screen and a thudding heartbeat filled the room. "And that, is your baby." She pointed to the screen, once again smiling. I found myself tearing up as I held Steven's hand, glancing to see he was trying to hold it together, us both, smiling wide.

I saw the face of the nurse turn to a frown as she continued to look at the moving image. "Can you guys excuse me for a moment?" She muttered as she stood up.

I grew more and more nervous and worried as the clock ticked on, tapping my finger on the bed. Me and Steve still had one of our hands joint as we awaited for her to come back.

"Lauren? I'm afraid we're gonna need to run a few more tests." She said as she strolled in, her smile now fake.
