A/N: IM SORRY I HAVENT UPDATED SINCE NOVEMBER IVE BEEN SO BUSY SO HERES A SHITTY SHORT CHAPTER TO 'MAKE UP' THAT LOST TIME SORRRRYYYYY.

Steven's P.O.V

"Yes but how?" I replied eagerly to my best friend, as we sat at a local cafe. "It's easy to say 'just do it', but how?"

"Mate, I don't know, have you seen me? I don't really go for that relationship stuff." Norman answered, taking a sip of his coffee.

"What about you and Emily?"

He shook his head, "it's not as serious as you two are. I leave it up to her for the decisions"

"See, if that was me, I'd get my head ripped off for not caring."

"And that is why I don't do big soppy relationships." He chuckled.

I sighed, "great, you're a big help, you know."

"Why don't you ask Andy? He's done this before."

"Because Andy can't lie for shit, you know that." I looked down in the coffee and contemplated what to do/how to do this.

Norman clicked his fingers in front of my face, making me jump a little but eventually look up. "Hey. I get it. You failed the first time, but no matter how you do it, she's not gonna say no, okay? She loves you, more than anyone. And your relationship is stronger than any other I know. Yeah, sure, you've had some bad times. But that's natural for a relationship. You stayed together and you're both grateful for each other. So just do it yeah?"

"Yeah... yeah you're right! I'll do it. I'll just do it."

"Well yeah, I'm always right." He joked.

I stood up, finishing the rest of my coffee before patting Norman on the shoulder-

"I'm gonna propose"

Of course I couldn't just storm in and ask her. That wouldn't work. I had to be clever about this, but that was the problem.

Being clever.

I quickly took my phone from my pocket and called Lauren, hoping and praying she'd answer. And after a few rings, she did.

"Hey! How was your little catch up?" She chirped through the phone, her happiness making me immediately smile.

"It was good... just talked about general stuff." I replied, casually. "So um... babe, where are you?"

"Alanna asked if I wanted to go to the park with her, the twins and Marlowe, thought it would be nice." She answered, before muttering something to one of the twins.

"Oh? Which park? I'll come meet you"

"Um... that's sweet but we're about to head home anyway... we'll meet you there okay?" I could almost hear the smile in her voice.

"Oh yeah... sure... see you later babe" I mumbled, earning a goodbye from her before we hung up.

As I started to walk home, as it was only a few blocks away, I started to think about how I could ask her. This was probably one of the most important questions of anybody's life, and there were so many ways to say it.

I could easily just ask her, no matter about it. Simple. Quick.

Or I could do it on a special day, like valentines or something. Thoughtful, but isn't close enough.

Or I could be typical. Take her out to dinner, not as easy, but very cliché.

Even though there were many ways to ask someone to marry them, none of them seemed right to me. After everything we've been through, should I just do it? No. Dress up in a suit pay hundreds for a meal we won't even enjoy? Don't make me laugh.

It was harder than everyone made it seem.

I felt like I lost my opportunity to ask the question when I forgot the ring on the holiday. Maybe that's how it should be.

As I continued to think about the situation, I realised I was finally home. I sighed quietly before making my way inside. I looked around the house, acknowledging that the it all look incredibly tidy, despite having twins.

I took my coat off and walked into the living room, looking around at the photo frames that laid on shelves and hung on the walls. My eyes fell onto one photo in particular. Just me and her. Back when we were friends. God, that was long ago. I chuckled to myself at the photo, she was leaning on me and holding onto my shoulders for dear life in an ice rink.

My smile grew ever so slightly.

"Fuck it." I sighed before dashing upstairs.

Lauren's P.O.V

"Thanks Alanna, I needed that." I laughed a little as I started to take the twins out of the stroller and walk into the living room, Alanna soon following with Marlowe walking next to her.

"We were in town, thought it would be a nice idea." She smiled. I slowly and carefully placed the twins in a Moses basket before turning back to her, smiling.

"God, I'm so tired-"

Heavy steps could be heard coming down the stairs and soon, Steven appeared into the room, uttering a small hello to Alanna before making his way over to me, and kissing my cheek.

"Go get changed, I'm taking you out." He smiled before going over to the twins.

"Huh?" I was utterly confused, he had never randomly asked me out like that before and I guess it took me by surprise. "What about the-"

"I texted Emily, she said she could look after the twins if needed, babe." He smiled once more at me, before looking back at the twins and continuing to make them giggle.

"I guess we're going out then"
