chapter seventy eight

Steven's P.O.V

"Hey, I was thinking that we could go out somewhere tonight... ask Alanna to have to kids another day? what do you think?" I said, trying to sound confident as I drove down the road.

"what for?" She replied, slowly looking over at me, but I kept my eyes on the road.

I shrugged, "I just thought it would be nice, that's all." I gently moved my hand onto her thigh as she held it.

I glanced over at her too see a bright smile on her face, "you've gotten really romantic all of a sudden"

I shrugged again, "I just love you"

She squints her eyes at me, before slowly looking forward, "I don't know Mr Yeun... it seems like you're up to something"

"Me? Up to something? You know I can't keep a secret well..."

"Okay, I'll give you that..." She giggles, bringing my hand up to her face before she kisses it.

I smile warmly to myself, look back at the road, thinking about how I got so lucky, until she spoke again.

"But... I'm so tired. So can we do it another day? And I miss our babies Steve..." she pouted, dragging this situation down the dramatic road, making me chuckle.

"Yeah me too, can't blame me for trying" I smiled over at her before looking back at the road, my smile fading.

"Look! Mommy and daddy are home!" Alanna almost shouted in a high pitched voice while holding the twins.

Within a second, Lauren was right next to her, bombarding Alanna with questions of how they've been and if anything went wrong, while taking nova out of Alanna's arms as she noticed him starting to fuss.

"Hey, babe, relax... they're fine" I smile and kiss her cheek. "Right Alanna?"

"N- I was gonna say something sarcastic but I feel like I'd get beat." She laughs.

"So nothing's changed." I mumble but loud enough for her to hear, which ends in a slap to the shoulder. "what! I was only being truthful!" I laugh.

She shrugged, slyly raising her eye brow at me as she looked between Lauren and I. Slowly, I shake my head, but only a little as I didn't want Lauren to see. She sighed, "so, are you two doing anything tonight?"

"No, we're gonna go home I think, just chill out." She smiled and kisses my cheek, "I'll go put Nova in the car."

When she walked away, I was slapped once again by Alanna. "what the hell dude? you promised you'd do it!" She almost shouted, but realised Lauren wasn't too far away.

I slowly took Addy while saying, "I know, I forgot it at home. I'll do it another time. No big deal."

"No big deal? Well, if it's not a 'big deal' you can do it tonight can't you?"

"No. I'm doing it properly."

"C'mon man... this is Lauren we're talking about... she wouldn't want this fancy shit." She laughed and handed me the bag for the twins, "I'll talk to you later yeah? but only if you do it." She winks before leaving back into her house.

"What was all that about?" Lauren asked me as I made my way back over to the car.

"Oh, she's just being annoying, as always" I laughed, putting Addy in the car and getting in the front.

"Annoying?" I heard Lauren say from beside me when she got into the car.

"You know what I mean" I smile and take her hand, kissing it gently. "Come on, lets get home."

"She's asleep." Lauren walked back into the living room, falling onto the sofa next to me. "I'm surprised she didn't wake Nova, but I think he can sleep through anything." She laughed a little.

"true..." I looked over at her, just sitting their, being her beautiful self without knowing. "hey? come here"

She smiled, scooting over to be closer to me as I wrapped my arms around her, holding her close as she closed her eyes with the smile still plastered on her face. "I honestly needed those few days to relax..."

I smiled, kissing her head gently, "yeah, me too."

A few moments of comfortable silence went by, just enjoying each other's company. But as I looked down at her, noticing she was almost asleep, I couldn't help but look at her perfect features as she relaxed. Her breath soon became even and she was completely still, telling me she's asleep. I carefully picked up my phone and dialled a number of someone I trust with everything.

"Hey... I need your help with something."
