Wedding planning is seriously a pain in my ass. Great thing my Aunt Mari is a wedding planner and offered to help me for free. “What type of flowers do you want?” She asked getting ready to scribble down my answer.
“I really haven’t thought about that.” I answered honestly.
“What the hell have you thought about, Jen Jen?” She joked using my nickname that I hate.
“Colors,” I retorted, shrugging.
“And they are?”
“Blue, black, and gold,”
“That’s a start,” She said as she scribbled my answer down.
“I want roses, daisies, orchids, and tropical tulips.” I answered her first question after I thought about it for a moment.
“There we go, you’re on a roll. Keep going,” She joked, lightly.
After we spent hours and hours of talking about wedding planning, I decided to talk to Derrick about things. “I think I want the wedding after the babies get here,” I stated, honestly.
“Why?” He asked, somewhat shocked.
“I feel like it wouldn’t be right without the twinkies. Also, I don’t want to have a big ass belly while walking down the aisle. I’ve always pictured my wedding this big glorious thing but now, I just picture my wedding in a back yard with my family. I imagine myself walking towards the man I fell in love with and my kids leaving trails of roses. Everything has changed. I don’t need no big fancy wedding to prove my love I feel for you.” I swear if I wasn’t pregnant I wouldn’t have said this cheesy stuff. My hormones are crazy. I have never been the lovey-dovey type.
“I want you to have a big wedding. No, we don’t need it but we have the money so why not? I agree with whatever you chose to do.” He answered kissing me sweetly.
“Come in,” I called out when someone knocked on my bedroom door.
“Sissy, can I talk to you?” Erin’s voice cracked as she spoke. Ever since I was little, we were really close and we always called each other sissy.
“Help me up, Derrick.” I said.
“How about I just go down stairs and you two can talk up here?” He offered, getting up. I nodded my head before giving Derrick a kiss on the lips.
“What’s wrong?” I asked, wrapping my arms around her.
“I think I’m pregnant… I’m only seventeen, I can’t be a mother.” She cried on my shoulder.
“Listen, I was a mother at fourteen and look at me now, seventeen and pregnant with two kids, graduating my twelfth grade year in two months, with a good paying job, and getting married to the man of my dreams, don’t say you can’t do it, I am now.” I finished my little speech as Erin looked up at me.
“The guy is my twenty-three year old teacher… Please, don’t tell anybody, sissy. The whole student population will think I’m a whore who fucks for good grades. I’m not, I swear, I really love him. My parents will hate me. I don’t know what to do. I’m really thinking about abortion, but no one would take me? Help me, sissy.” She ranted. I can see it in her eyes and hear it in her voice, she loves him. I understand it may be wrong because of age difference and he is a teacher but love is love.
“Please think about it. I don’t want you to regret it later and I can’t tell you don’t but I do disagree. Think about adoption before all of that. If you decided to go through with the abortion, I think you would regret it. I will take you if you really do choose that but I just want you to think about things first. Are you even sure? Have you taken a test?” I asked, hoping she would rule out abortion. I honestly don't think I would be able to take her. It is just plain wrong.
