Staring at the beautiful baby boy that I created, I sang Happy Birthday with my family and friends. “Make a wish, baby boy.” I whispered in his ear. I helped him blow his candles out and put his personal Cars cake in front of him. As he lowered his face to take a bite out of his cake, I did the family tradition and shoved his face in the cake. Everyone including Bentley laughed. I let him make a mess out of himself and then I cut the bigger cake, handing everyone a slice. Everyone enjoyed the cake and Bentley got loads of new toys and clothes. I’d say he had a great birthday. Two years ago today, I delivered a healthy baby boy. It’s hard to believe he is already two years old. It seems like yesterday I was just finding out I was pregnant. Jessica is really close with Bentley. Jessica just about moved in but sometimes, she goes home to keep the peace. Since Jessica pretty much lives with me, she has been a big help with raising Bentley. So have my parents.

“So you’re seventeenth birthday is in a month, what do you plan to do?” My mom asked me while we were cleaning up the house.

I stopped washing the dishes for a moment to think about it, “Hmm I can’t really do much because I have Bentley. I’m happy as long as I’m with him.” I replied truthfully.

“What do you want?” She said taking a seat on the chair.

I thought about it for a moment before replying, “It doesn’t really matter. Well, there is this amazing toy for-”

“Jennifer, Bentley has all these new toys. He had his birthday, it is your turn.” Mom replied.

“Mama, I’m seepy.” Bentley walked towards me, rubbing his eyes.

I picked him up and put him on my side, “You want to go night-night, baby?” I asked, placing a kiss his dimple on his left cheek.

“Yes, mama, I want my mankey.” I grabbed his blanket and walked to his bedroom. His crib was replaced with a Cars toddler bed and instead of wood dressers it‘s a Cars related dresser.

“Goodnight Lil’ Man. Mommy loves you baby.” I tucked him in and gave him kisses.

“I wove you too mommy.” He whispered closing his eyes. I watched him sleep for about an hour and decided to go to sleep because tomorrow was the first day of my junior year.

When Bentley was born, I decided to do home schooling up until Bentley was old enough to go to daycare. He could have gone to daycare at any time but I wanted him to be at least two years old before anybody I didn’t know watched my baby. Through the online home school you can graduate earlier than public school. I decided to finish my ninth, tenth, and half of eleventh grade online. Since a new semester started I decided on going back to public school. Jessica also begged me to go back. She said it was lonely not having her best friend with her. After I set my alarm clock, I laid down and got comfortable. Slowly, I drifted off unto a deep sleep.

“Mommy, mommy wake up! You tot stool.” Bentley woke me up by jumping on my bed. I turned and look at the clock, it was 7:30.

I picked Bentley up and took him to the potty. He was in pull ups now, but he is almost potty trained. I went down stairs to make him a bowl of cereal and a cup of chocolate milk. I sat him down at his little table and turned cartoons on. “Go take a shower and get ready for school, baby. I’ll keep an eye on Bentley.” My mom said, sitting down near Bentley.

“Thanks mom.” With that, I ran up the stairs, skipping every other step. I took a fast shower so I could spend more time with my baby before school. I put on a pair of Hollister skinny jeans with rips all down them and a black V-neck with a hot pink undershirt. I let my natural waves fall down my back and then put a little bit of eyeliner and mascara on. I went across the hall into Bentley’s room to pick out an outfit. I chose blue basketball shorts, a white t-shirt, and his blue pair of Jordans. Living in Texas, the weather here is bipolar. One day it’ll be hot as hell and the next it’ll be cold. I walked down the stairs and cleaned up Bentley. “Are you ready for daycare baby?” I asked him while wiping cereal off his face.
