“Oh my gosh, oh my gosh,” Jessica whispered, shaking with nerves. Her beautiful white dress flowed down to the floor. She looked absolutely beautiful.

“Don’t worry, you look beautiful.” I stated, trying to calm her.

“Thank you, but I’m so nervous.” She retorted.

“Everything will be fine,” I answered as I heard a knock on the door.

I shut the door behind me, “The music is about to start. You have to walk down the aisle.” The wedding planner said. As I walked down the aisle, I looked around. Brandon was sitting in the back with a tux on. He looked handsome. When I saw Derrick, my heart dropped but I tried not to show it.

“Jessica, you are my best friend and I’m so happy that you found someone you loved and married them. You were by my side for everything and I could never thank you enough. I love you so much and congratulations,” I toasted at the reception. I saw Derrick and his date Josie. They looked beautiful and Derrick looked happy. I wish I could be happy, but my insides hurt.

“Jenny, this is Cynthia, my baby girl.” Brandon introduced me to his daughter.

“Hey sweetie,” I greeted her.

“Hi.” She replied shyly before she hid behind her dad.

“Bentley, this is mommy’s friend, Brandon,” I introduced Brandon to Bentley and the girls, “This is Daniella and Gabriella.”

nt to dance?” Brandon offered.

“They are all gorgeous.” He complemented my kids. They ran off to play together and my mom was playing with the girls. “Do you want to dance?” Brandon offered.

“Yeah,” I answered as Truly Madly Deeply by Savage Garden started playing.

“You know I like you a lot more than I originally planned,” Brandon said as we swayed to the music.

“Is that so?” I questioned. I looked over at Derrick and saw he was smiling and dancing. Maybe this isn’t a good idea. “I feel like I’m going to get sick,” I stated before running to the restroom. After I emptied the contents in my stomach, I looked at my face in the mirror. I tried to stop the tears from coming but I failed.

“Damnit, why is this so difficult?” I questioned myself, slamming my hand on the counter. After getting myself together, I walked out, with a smile on my face.

“Are you okay?” Brandon asked when I got back.

“Yeah, but I think I should head home.” I answered.

“Let’s go then.” He stated, grabbing my hand.

“Congratulations, girl. I love you, but I don’t feel so well. I’ll text you later or something.” I told Jessica after gathering up my kids. I told everyone bye and took one last glance at Derrick. I saw him staring at Brandon with a hateful look.

I buckled the kids, including Brandon’s daughter in the car seat. They were so tired. As I was getting in the car, Derrick came outside. “What the hell is this dude doing around my kids?” He asked, staring at Brandon hatefully.

“The same thing Josie is doing around MY kids,” I replied.

“We barely broke up and you’re already sleeping with another dude?” He shouted.

“First off, we’ve been broken up for almost five months and secondly, I’m not sleeping with him and if I were, it is not any of your business.” I retorted. “At least I didn’t sleep with someone while we were together!”
