My head flooded with thoughts as I read the word over and over again. Positive. It was late and Bentley, Gabriella, Daniella, and Cynthia were fast asleep. Cynthia and Brandon stay over quite often but he wasn’t living with me. Brandon looked at my face and the test in my hands. “What’s the matter, babe?”

I swallowed the lumps in my throat and tried clearing the thoughts of him leaving me. “I’m pregnant.” I answered.

He shot up like a lion and hugged me. He kissed me all over my face, making me chuckle. “I love you and I’m happy, so stop thinking negative.”

I smiled, happy that he is happy. “I love you too. Can we wait to tell anybody?”

He kissed me on the tip of my nose, “Of course, we can wait. Let’s get to bed.” I followed him to my room and snuggled tightly against him. He took the news well but let’s see how others take it. I fell asleep thinking of my new baby.

“Do you want to meet my parents today?” Brandon asked while I was making breakfast for the kids. “We have to drive to Corpus Kristi. It’s a 7-hour drive. We can stay a couple nights and visit the beach.” He added on.

“That’s fine. I have a lot to do before we go, though. I have to apply for law school, then I have to call my job and let them know, I’m taking a vacation, and I have to rent a van. Pack mine and the kids things. But, it’ll be simple.” I said, doing a mental check on everything I need to do. We ate, and Brandon helped me clean up while Bentley and Cynthia played and the girls slept. He kissed me and left to go pack.

“Yes, I wanted to apply for classes,” I said when the school answered the line. After I set up school to start next August, I looked in the phone book to find places to rent and buy cars. Realizing that my family is about to grow wider than it is, I decided to go ahead and buy a minivan that would go perfect with my family.

I asked my father to go pick up a brand new black 2012 Dodge Grand Caravan. The thought of a minivan grossed me out because I’ve always thought they were ugly, but when I saw it; it fit me perfectly. Money definitely wasn’t a thing, because my parents were loaded. It was also my graduation present. After my parents dropped it off, I decided to call Derrick and let him know the plans. “Hey,” He answered with a husky voice. I could hear the laughter of a girl’s voice in the background.

“The kids and I are going to Corpus Kristi for a few days. I just wanted to let you know so that you don’t make plans or anything for the kids.” I said, trying to not show the hurt in my voice.

I don’t understand why I felt that way, I moved on. So why the hell couldn’t he? I can’t be selfish. “Alright, thanks for letting me know.”

I nodded my head and remember he couldn’t see me, “Yeah. I’ll talk to you later.” I hung up not waiting for a reply. I started packing stuff for the girls. “Fuck,” I said aloud realizing I have to call my job.

“Fuck,” I heard Bentley repeat what I just said. Damnit, I forgot he was in hearing range.

“Bentley Cadence King, I never want to hear you say that ever again. Do you understand me?” I questioned, picking him up and sitting him in his timeout chair.

“You said it, so I can too. Fuck.” He retorted back. I stepped back, astonished that he talked back.

“I’m grown, I can say it but I didn’t mean to say that in front of you and for that I’m sorry. That still doesn’t give you a right to say it, so you’re in timeout for three minutes.” I apologized, knowing it was half my fault.

“Fuck Mama,” He said, throwing his car toy at my head.

“Bentley Cadence,” I slapped him in the mouth. I didn’t do it hard, just enough to let him know to not say it again. He started screaming and throwing tantrum. “I am not dealing with this.” I picked him up and put him in his room, shutting the door. I can’t believe he said that. I quickly called my job, letting them know I was using my vacation. I returned to Bentley’s room to pack some stuff and he was fast asleep. Before I could start packing, Dani woke up crying.

“Baby girl, what’s the matter?” I cooed, scooping her up. I walked to the kitchen to make her a bottle, rocking her in my arms. After I fed her, burped her, and changed her, Gabi woke up. I did the same with her and they both fell asleep. I finished packing the kids things and started packing my stuff. After I was finished, it was lunch time, so I woke up Bentley to feed him a lunch, which consisted of a turkey sandwich, carrots, and apple juice.

“Bentley, do you have something to say to mommy?” I asked as he sat down to eat.

“Tank you, Mommy!” He cheesed.

I smiled back. “You're welcome, baby. But I'm talking about earlier. You said a very bad word and you hurt my feelings by talking back to me. You need to say sorry to me and promise me you won't ever say it again.”

“I sowwy, Mommy. I pwomise.”

“I forgive you baby. Thank you. I love you.”

“I wuve you, too.” I kissed his head and ate with him as the girls were in their bouncer on the table. The doorbell rang so I stood up to get.

I opened the door revealing a sexy looking Brandon and a cute looking Cynthia. “You look so cute, Cynthia,” I complemented her. She was wearing a pink skirt and white shirt with pink hearts and flowers on it. I kissed Brandon and walked them in.

“No compliments for me?” He asked, pouting.

“Sorry, boo. Not today,” I tried suppressing my laugh, making him think I was being serious.

He pursed his lips and replied in a girly voice, “Girl, you know I’m a sexy chick.” I couldn’t help but laugh at how stupid he sounded.

“Whatever,” I winked, giving him my keys and my bags to take to the minivan.

He looked at me like I was stupid. “Uh, no compliment means I’m not taking your stuff to the minivan. How do you even have a minivan so quick?”

I laughed, knowing he was joking. “Guess, I won’t be complimenting you tonight, like I planned.” I winked. “My dad dropped it off a little bit ago.” He shut his mouth after that and took the stuff to the car. I got the twins ready and into their car seats. Finally, I got everyone out of the house and in to the car.

The ride there was long but fun. The kids slept most of the way minus stopping for food and potty breaks. Me and Brandon poked fun at each other whole way there.

“Nice to meet you Julie and Nick. I’ve heard a lot about you.” I said, shaking hands with Brandon’s parents. We finally made it to their house after a long drive.

“Same to you. You are as beautiful as Brandon explained.” His dad, Nick chimed in. “Let me see these beautiful grandchildren of ours.”

“Yeah! I want meet those sweet babies of yours.” His mom, Julie chimed in.

My heart swelled at the thought of them already accepting my children. Blushing, I replied, “Thank you. This is Bentley, Gabi, and Dani.”

We talked more about my babies before Brandon chimed in. “Where is Kaycee?”

“Kaycee is at her friends tonight. She’ll be here tomorrow, though.” His mother said. After we talked for a couple of hours, it was time to put the kids to sleep.

“If you guys like to check out the beach, then y'all can. It’s no problem leaving the kids here since they are sleeping.” They offered.

“Are you sure? We could just wait till tomorrow and take them with us,” I stated, not sure about leaving them since they just met us.

“Oh no, don’t worry. It’s fun. Go have fun,” His mom winked. Not the creepy wink, though. We walked down to the beach hand in hand. The ocean was beautiful and the sky was dark. Brandon stopped and I noticed him lowering until he was on his knee.

He pulled out a beautiful ring, “I love you more than words can express. You are beautiful and I can’t wait to expand our family. I love Bentley, Daniella, and Gabriella just as much as I love Cynthia. So would you do the honors of being my wife? Will you marry me?”
