~~~{Destiny's P.O.V}~~~
I was at a loss for words once again.
"I'm sorry, w-what?" I asked, confused.
"Good, because Mitch likes you. A lot." Jerome took a deep breath. "He told me so. He was a little afraid at first, because I love...loved you-" I shivered, "-and he's supposed to like Cassidy."
Jerome took his hands in mine, in the friendly way. "Can you promise me one thing, Destiny?"
"Okay." I itched to take my hands off of his and take a couple steps back, but I didn't.
"Mitch is a player. He used to go through a couple of girls a week, and he would love one, then another, then another. Promise me..." Jerome stopped, then started again, more firmly. "Promise me you won't kill yourself if Mitch dumps you for another girl. Promise me you won't self-harm if Mitch dumps you for another girl. Promise me you'll stay strong."
"I..." My mouth went dry. "I...I don't think I can make that promise."
"Sure you can." Jerome looked me straight in the eyes. "Just do it. Please. Do it for me. Just say yes."
"I promise I'll stay as strong as I can if Mitch breaks up with me." I vowed. My words rang with certainty and a confidence that I did not have.
"Good." Jerome released my hands and looked away from me. I shivered again and realized that Cassidy was there too.
"I'm glad you're feeling better." Cassidy said from inside the room.
I smiled. "Thanks."
"No problem."
Jerome backed up a couple of steps and closed the door. I turned and walked back downstairs, finding Mitch missing, so I simply lay back down on the white couch and fell asleep.
"Wake up." Someone shook my shoulder. "Wake up! Destiny! Wake up!"
I groaned and blinked open my eyes. "What?"
Mitch stared at me. "It's half past noon."
I threw off the quilt covering me and sat upright. "Why did you let me sleep so long?!"
Mitch grinned. "You need your beauty sleep. To make you even more beautiful, even though it seems impossible."
I blushed a deep scarlet. "Stop."
Mitch pouted. "But you're just so beautiful!"
I glared suspiciously at Mitch. "Did you watch me sleep?!"
Mitch looked away intentionally. "Maybe. Only for a couple minutes. Okay, maybe more like fifteen."
"Did you really?!"
Mitch grinned again. "You're just too beautiful for me to even look away."
"Why are you so good at flirting?" I asked accusingly.
"Because I get so much practice flirting with beautiful girl like you."
I laughed. "Come on, I need breakfast."
I quickly made myself some cereal--Lucky Charms--and devoured it.
"What do you think of Cassidy and Jerome?" Mitch asked suddenly.
I considered it for a moment. "I don't know. I think it's good that they put their secret out in the open, because you shouldn't keep all your feeling bottled up inside. Even if you hurt someone else you love."
Mitch nodded thoughtfully.
"I definitely would have done the same thing if I were them." I stated when Mitch didn't say anything.
Mitch nodded again and smiled at me. "Me too."
I smiled back at him. "Should I go home now?"
Mitch's smile faded. "Okay. Do you want me to drive you there, or--"
"No, I can walk. Thanks." I started walking away.
"Wait, Destiny!" Mitch objected. "Do you want to go to the movies tomorrow to watch Divergent?"
For a moment, I was unsure. Do I trust Mitch? I guess now would be the perfect time to find out. "I would love to! What time?"
Mitch considered it for a moment. "Six-thirty. I'll pick you up."
"Bye! See you!" I walked out of the door, closing it after I heard Mitch's "see you!"
It wasn't until I was at my house when the thought struck me:
Did I just get asked out on a date?
