I jogged out of the house, passing Adam's car and Ty's car, but something in Mitch's car made me stop.

Why was there a perfect blue rose in the backseat of Mitch's car?

I shrugged and reached through an open window to pick it up. It'll probably help make her forgive me.

I jogged out of the driveway and into the street, turning left.

When I reached Destiny's house I slowed down and walked to her door.

Gathering up my courage, I knocked on her door.

"It's open!" She called. I hope she doesn't think it's Adam.

I cautiously opened her door and entered, peering around for her. There are way too many doors in this place. Where is she?

"Destiny?" I called. I heard a shocked gasp, then Destiny came out of one of the many doors, her mouth set in a hard line.

"What do you want? Mitch is staying here, even if I have to fight you for it." She threatened, glaring at me. I beleived her, because her hard expression backed up her words.

"Look, Destiny," I started, "I'm sorry for accusing you back there of being all of those nasty things. I didn't mean it---actually, yes, I did mean it, but I'm sorry. I'm very, very sorry. After I thought about it..." When the glare didn't soften, I added, "I'm not going to try to take Mitch away, Destiny. I promise. He can stay here. He should stay here.

"After I reflected back on my actions, I'm thinking that I did the wrong thing. I wish it is easy for you to forgive me, so we could be friends. I know on my dying day, I'll regret saying those things. Every day when I wake up, I'll regret what I said and did, and every day when I fall asleep, too."

I tried to sound as sincere as I could, but I really didn't mean everything I said.

Destiny stopped glaring at me, but when she spoke, her tone was hard and cold. "I'm guessing you want to see Mitch, then."

I nodded. "Where is he?"

"He's..." Destiny's voice cracked, "he's in my bedroom."

I nodded again as Destiny walked back into the room she had come from. I followed her and saw Mitch, asleep, over the covers on Destiny's bed.

"Why was Mitch in the hospital?" I asked, confused, because Mitch seemed to be just fine.

In answer, Destiny tenderly turns Mitch's right arm over and I see the white bandages over the inside of his forearm.

I gasped, tears springing to my eyes. "He cut himself?!"

Destiny nodded numbly again and turned Mitch's arm over again. She smoothed out a ripple in his shirt gently.

All of a sudden, I did feel bad for saying all those bad things about Destiny. I did feel bad for believing my own lies. I did want her to forgive me, so we could be friends.

I gently placed the blue rose across Mitch's chest.

Destiny gasped and snatched it up, surveying every detail.

"Where did you get this?!" She demanded.

I swallowed nervously. "I found it in the back seat of Mitch's car. I thought you or Mitch might like it."

Destiny sniffed the perfect blue rose cautiously.

"Mitch gave it to me a week ago. On our first date." She clutched it to her chest.

"Oh."

"I'll be right back." She said, hurrying out of the room. She returned a moment later with a dictionary clutched close to her chest next to the rose.

"What are you going to do with that?" I asked stupidly.

Destiny smiled. "I'm going to press the rose so I'll always remember it and my first date with Mitch."

Still smiling, she opened up to a random page around the middle of the book and gently placed the rose in.

She closed the book and there was silence.

"That's a good idea." I broke the silence after a minute or two.

"It was Mitch's idea." She said.

"It was?" I asked, surprised.

Destiny nodded. "He said if anyone ever gave him a flower, he would press it. I couldn't find the flower before, but now it's here, so I pressed it." She smiled for the millionth time. "I'm glad it's still in perfect condition."

I nodded.

Just then Mitch woke up. "What time is it?" He asked, stretching and yawning.

Destiny giggled. "Aren't you supposed to know the time?" She asked playfully, tapping his nose.

"You said that today already!" Mitch pouted. "You can't say it again!"

"Who says I can't?" Destiny challenged.

"Me!"

Destiny giggled again, but then she turned to me. "Can you please leave, Jerome? We would like some alone time. Plus I have to re-wrap his bandages, put ointment on them..."

I raised my hands in defeat. "All right. Bye Mitch!"

"Bye biggums!" Mitch smiled and waved at me as I turned to leave. It seemed like he was back to his old self already.

As I closed the door behind me, I heard Mitch ask, "Is all well between you two?"

Destiny answered in a heartbeat. "Yes."
