Chapter 40 ~ Windows

~~~{Destiny's P.O.V}~~~

"What?!"

"The girl that got shot was your sister, Lily. Apparently she came back to your house to apologize, but...you know what happened. It was just plain coincidence that she got shot outside of my house." Alia's voice was soft and comforting, unlike the horrifying words she spoke.

"Is Lily okay?!" I asked, my eyes wide.

Jerome nodded. "While you were out, I tried to visit her for you, but they said they wouldn't allow visitors, not even family. I'm sorry, Destiny."

I nodded numbly. "It's okay," I said, even though it wasn't. "How long so I have to stay here?"

"As soon as you're ready you can leave. Mitch, Jason, Quentin, Ian, and Adam are all waiting for you right outside the door.

"But.....Mitch really wants to see you. He's outside." Alia tucked a strand of hair behind her ear nervously, waiting for my reaction.

"Did you talk to him?" I asked, staring at the door as if Mitch would come barging in at any moment.

Jerome nodded. "He said he was really sorry. He didn't know why he did....that and he's terrified he might lose you. He really loves you, Destiny. He really does."

I took a deep breath. "I...I guess I forgive him, but I just don't want to face him now. Alia, can I go back with you to your house?"

"How will you get past Mitch?" Jerome asked.

I thought for a moment, then threw off the covers on my bed and walked over to the window. Looking out, I saw that I was on the first floor. Yes!

"I'll climb out the window," I decided. I took the flowers off of the windowsill.

Alia's eyes went wide. "What if you hurt yourself? What if you get in really big trouble? What if-"

Rolling my eyes, I told my friend, "I'll be fine." I opened the giant window and perched on it. "See?"

"You might be fine doing that, but I sure as hell don't want to do that." Alia said.

"Well then, you can go out the normal person way. Jerome, will you go with Alia?"

Jerome nodded.

"Uh....See you guys."

I jumped out the window.

Short chapter! I'm sorry! I just felt like I had to get something up. Another, longer chapter shoooould be coming soon. Maybe not though, because three of my friends are at my house and it's the morning after the sleepover and I'm sooooo sleepy because I had terrible sleep last night. My mom might come in and say I have to get off this, or I might just be too lazy to get this up....whatever. Sorry. At least it's a chapter not ending with that big of a cliffhanger, right? That's a good thing!
