~~~{Destiny's P.O.V}~~~
Alia and I were walking in a loud, busy street when my phone rang.
We had abandoned our quest to reach the white building because Alia realized it was too far away. I had protested, of course, but eventually she persuaded me to go somewhere else.
"Is that Ty?" Alia asked suspiciously.
"I don't know," I answered, catching Alia by the wrist and pulling her into a small gap between two shops.
I answered the phone and quickly put it on speaker.
"Destiny?!" I heard Mitch say.
"Mitch!" I squealed. "I missed you so much!"
"Me too. I love you so much. Where are you? Are you safe?" Mitch asked worriedly.
"I love you more. I'm in between two shops. I'm safe. Alia's here too." I responded.
"Hey!" Alia chirped.
"Good," Mitch sighed happily.
"Is Jerome there?" Alia asked, smiling. "I missed him so much!"
"Oh...." Mitch sounded sad and his reply was slightly muffled, as if he were about to cry but trying not to. He sniffled... "He got shot."
"OH MY GOD IS HE OKAY?!" Alia covered her whole face with her hands.
"He only got shot in the shoulder...I'm at the hospital now." Mitch replied, definitely trying not to cry now. "He might not live."
"Can you give me the adress?" I asked, also trying not to cry.
Mitch consented, and Alia and I looked the place up on Google Maps and started walking to the hospital. It's not like there are any taxis in the middle of New Jersey!
It turns out the hospital was named "Central Jersey Urgent Care"*
When we walked in, I spotted Mitch, Ian, Adam, Brittany, Lily, Jason, and Quentin all sitting in adjacent fluffy white chairs.
Seeing them, Alia finally bust out crying. I hugged her, murmuring "it's going to be okay."
When I released Alia, Mitch came up to me and hugged me.
"I missed you so much, my queen," he whispered.
"I missed you too," I whispered back.
"Get a room, guys!" Jason whined.
"No," I snapped back, but I broke out of the hug with Mitch.
A nurse came out of a room, suddenly, and announced, "Jerome Aceti will not be leaving for at least a week."
Brittany and Alia gasped, both of their eyes filling with tears.
"What can we do?!" Brittany cried. "Can we see him?'
"I'm afraid he can't see anyone." The nurse smiled sympathetically.
"Can't he change hospitals?!" Alia begged. When the nurse hesitated, she added, "We live in Los Angeles! A whole country away!"
"Yes, he can change hospitals." The nurse nodded. "He could be there in four days. For now, though, he needs to rest."
"Is he awake?" Brittany asked, tears falling into her lap.
The nurse shook her head sadly and walked back into the room she came from.
For a couple minutes, no one spoke. Then Quentin broke the silence, asking, "What happened to Ty?"
"He went to a jail. He didn't need a trial. He'll be in jail for the rest of his life." Brittany spoke in a hushed whisper.
"Oh." Quentin looked away.
"Are we going to go home now?" Jason asked.
Everyone sighed as one. "All right."
"Where will I go, though?" Lily asked. I turned to look at her and I saw her eyes were red and puffy. "I don't want to live in my house...it.." she took a deep, shuddering breath, "reminds me of Brian..."
"You can stay with me," I offered.
Lily smiled sadly. "Thanks, sister."
"This is my---our---house." I told Lily. "I'm going to go over to the guys' house for a while. I'll leave you to mourn for a while...you can have any room you want. I have a couple spare rooms. Just don't pick mine."
Lily nodded and walked into a random room.
I walked out the door and up to Mitch's house, where Brittany and Alia's cars were parked.
I knocked on his door and Alia answered almost immediately.
"Come on in!" She said simply, then turned to walk away.
I stepped inside, shut the door behind me, and walked into the living room, where all the guys were.
"We have a lot to talk about." Mitch said.
*real place near the "abandoned" pool club. The pool club I used in this story was actually the pool I used to use. I hated it. They barely heated it at all.. I'm just glad I don't have to use it any more.
