Chapter 10

We pulled a part and stared at each other. I broke the stare and looked down at the bed. I felt Peter let go of me.

"So that was, uh," I started but couldn't find the words to describe how I felt about the kiss. I scratched the back of my neck.

"Amazing?" Peter asked. I looked back over at him and smiled.

"Yeah, you could say that," I said while smiling. He blushed madly and looked away, trying to cover up the blush.

Then the door opened. Mr. Stark came walking into the room. Peter turned to look at Mr. Stark.

"Peter, Happy's waiting for you in the car," Mr. Stark said.

"Bye Veronica," Peter says before hugging me, tightly. I hug him back.

"Goodbye Peter."

"It's alright Peter, you'll be able to see soon, we just need to discuss the situation," Mr. Stark said to Peter. Peter let go of me and kissed the top of my head before walking out of the hospital room.

Mr. Stark then sat down in the chair that was next to the hospital bed.

"I heard everything, your father was David Taylor?" Mr. Stark asked me. I nodded my head. "He was a good man, he was the inside source, but I had no idea that they had kidnapped his daughter, let alone that he even had a daughter."

"He was a good man, a great father to me," I said. I looked over at Stark. "I didn't know he was a double agent, I only knew he was a level ten S.H.E.I.L.D agent. So that day when I was kidnapped I had a feeling it had to do with my father in some way, but then I found out it was because he was caught being a double agent, I knew he was going to die. Just like my mother and unborn brother, dead."

"Veronica, we want you to stay here, upstate with us," Mr. Stark says. I look at him.

"What about Peter and May? I want to stay with them," I said, trying to sound confident.

"You can make that decision but since you've already been found in that location once, we don't want you to be caught again, and this time not be able to be saved."

"Why not? Why not just attach a tracker to me and have me go to wherever HYDRA is and stop them for good. Helgen isn't going to give up until I'm in that glass box prison again," I say. Mr. Stark frowns at me.

"We aren't going to get you captured just to see where they are, that is way too dangerous, they could kill you before we got there," He said. I huffed. "But, I do feel safe with you living with Peter."

"Really?" I asked, happily.

"Yes, he did save you from the flying guy and stopped him from continuing his illegal company. Peter has really impressed me," He said.

"When can I go back?" I ask.

"When the cuts on your face heal a little bit, May believes your staying here for the week. It's already been six days, just one more day Veronica."

"So one more day?" I asked. He nodded his head. "What happened to Toomes?"

"He was arrested, going on trial," Stark said, happily.

"Good, the bastard deserved it. The prick shot my thigh," I growled. Stark chuckled at my response.

"By the way, you'll be on crutches for a while, you lost a lot of blood, thank goodness you had a blood donor," He said.

"Who was it?" I asked.

"Guess."

"Peter?"
