I woke up, alone, in Peters bed. I sat up in the bed and rubbed my eyes. I looked around the room. Peter was gone. I looked over at his bed side table. He left a note.

"Hey V, had to go to school, I'll be back at 3:30, then I have to go patrol. -Peter"

I got out of the bed and looked over at Peters clock.

9:26 AM

Alright, I have some time to go do stuff. One thing I've been wanting to do is visit my house. I remember exactly where it is now, from here.

I got dressed into a shoulder-less green shirt and jeans. I decided to try to walk without my crutches. I struggled for the first few minutes but then it turned into a limp.

I left the apartment and made my way to the subway. I had some money that May had left behind for Peter, there was a lot so I didn't feel bad only taking fifteen dollars.

The subway was as sketchy as I remembered. I got onto the first train and immediately felt sketchiness. A group of old men were sitting together, talking loudly about what types of alcohol they liked to chug. Then across from me was two girls dressed up as Disney Princesses. In the corner of the compartment I was in, was a group of emo goths, all talking about methods of how to hide self-harm scars.

I just took a deep breath and had to remind myself, I was in New York.

---

Not too long later, I arrived to Brooklyn, where my house was. I guess when telling people at that party where I was from, I wasn't making it up. I really am from Brooklyn.

I got off the train and made my way to the nearest bus.

After lots of traveling, I got to where I needed to be. My old neighborhood. I walked through the small neighborhood. Lots of the houses were for sale, I guess everyone was moving out. I continued to walk through the neighborhood until I saw my house.

It looked a normal house.

It made me sad.

It made me sad to think that a family lived there. My family lived there. I had a life before all of this.

The lawn was filled of weeds. The gray color of the house looked faded and aged. It hadn't been that long since we lived there, right?

I walked up to the front door and opened it. It was unlocked. I walked in to see it was completely like I left it. Destroyed.

I closed the door behind me and walked in. Documents were still scattered everywhere. I noticed that my father probably didn't come home after I was kidnapped. I'm sure he would have cleaned this place up a little bit.

I walked by the foyer. The couch cushions were ripped open. So were other cushioned chairs. I looked over at a little table near the couches with a lamp and a picture on it.

The picture was of younger me and my parents. My mother was at least 8 months pregnant in the picture. We were all at the central park zoo. I looked so happy. We all looked happy.

I grabbed the picture frame and took the picture out of it. I folded the picture and put it in my pocket. I then walked into the kitchen. I saw some kitchen knives on the floor and saw blood on the floor, my blood I'm guessing.

I walked to the kitchen table. I saw a handwritten document. I picked it up and read,

"My wife died during childbirth 8 years ago. Now I'm starting to believe that she was murdered. The doctors looked different every time I entered that operation room. My wife carried what they wanted, so of course they wanted her dead. They told me it could power their weapons. I of course did my mission and took it from SHEILD but didn't deliver it to HYDRA, instead I gave it to Trisha as a gift. I thought it would be safe, but I was wrong.

Now, they have Veronica. My only child. She's all I have now and all I ever had after Trisha died with my unborn child. I'm writing this for whatever SHEILD agent finds this. The Saphrite is in my bedroom. Under the bed in a secret compartment.

I am so sorry I took it in the first place."

I looked away from the document. He believed my mother was murdered? I mean I could see why they would do it, but all over some Saphrite thing?

I walked out of the kitchen and up the stairs to the second floor. I walked into the first room. My old room.

My room was destroyed. My queen sized bed was ripped in half. My favorite chair in the corner of the room was flipped over. My desk drawers were on the floor. My dresser drawers on the ground and the dresser flipped over.

I walked out of the room and into the next. My parents room looked the same.

I moved the torn up mattress out of the way and saw a barley noticeable knob on the floor. I bent down and pulled the knob up. It was a trap door. Then I saw a jewel. It was a grey jewel with a blue tint. It was connected to a chain, that was meant to be a necklace. He made it for my mother.

I picked it up and stared at it. I then put it in my pocket. I stood back up and turned to see a picture of my mother.

She was sitting against a tree in central park. It was a beautiful picture. She was in mid laughter and looked happy. She looked young too. Her dark hair was blowing in the wind. Her dimples were showing.

At the bottom of the picture were the words printed onto the picture, "Trisha Grey Taylor, 1975-2009."

I took out the picture of the frame and put it into my pocket. I couldn't leave that one behind.

---

I got back to the apartment around 3:00. I went back into the apartment and laid out the Saphrite thing on the counter. I stared at it for a good five minutes.

"What are you?" I mumbled staring at it.

Then I heard the door open. I looked over to see Peter, with his ear buds in. He took out his ear buds and smiled at me.

"Oh, hey Veronica," He said. I smiled at him.

"Hey, uh, I went to my old house today and found something serious," I said, before holding up the Saphrite.

Peter looked at it confused.

"A necklace?"

"It's not just a necklace. I found a document in my dads hand writing talking about this thing. It's like an energy source HYDRA has been looking for, for the past eight years. My father thinks they murdered my mother for it and made it look like she died from childbirth."

Peter came over to me and took it out of my hand.

"Woah," Peter mumbled.

"My dad took it from SHEILD but instead of delivering to HYDRA like he was suppose to, he made it into a necklace and gave it to my mother, Trisha Taylor."

Peter handed me back the Saphrite.

"They call it the Spahrite."

"Calling it the Saphirte makes it sound awesome," Peter says. I smile at his remark.

"Yeah, I guess it does," I say. "You going out to patrol today?"

"Yep, I got to go now, I'll be back soon," Peter says before hugging me. I hug him back.

"Be careful out there," I muttered. He pulled away and kissed me. I kissed back before he pulled away.

"I will," He says before running into his room.

I followed behind and saw him in his Spider suit and swing out of his window into the city.
