That morning was hard. I was trying to get up as I heard the alarm clock go off, but Peter's arms were restricting me from getting up.
"Peter come on, we gotta get up," I said as Peter groaned.
"No, what can I do to change your mind?" He whined.
"Nothing Peter, come on I have to do this," I said. He groaned then let go of me. I got up and went into the guest room with my clothes in it.
I put on a pair of jeans and a blue t-shirt. I noticed that my leg didn't hurt today. Well I better not get used to that feeling. I then tucked the Saphrite into my shirt.
I walked out of the guest room and back into Peter's room. He stood in his Spider-Man suit, unmasked, and was on his phone.
"Come on Ned, get up, we're about to leave...just get onto your computer," He said before looking over at me. "Okay Ned, she's here I'll call you when we get to our destination."
Peter hung up the phone and tucked it into his suit.
"Ready?" I asked him.
"I should be asking you that," Peter said, not thrilled about what was about to happen.
"Yeah, I'm ready," I said.
"Alright, lets go," Peter says as he pulls his mask on and opens the window. "Meet me out in the front."
"Alright."
Peter climbs out the window as I left the apartment and went down to the front of the apartment complex.
Peter stood, anxiously waiting. I got to him and he wrapped his arm around me waist as I wrapped my arms around his neck.
"Ready?" He asks.
"Ready."
Then Peter swings us into the air and onto a building top.
---
We swing for a while until we got to the top of a building that was across the street from a small shop. It was a small little market. I guess this is where HYDRA agents go for food.
Peter let go of me and I let go of him.
"Okay, here's your ear piece," He says, handing me what looks like an stud earing. "Put it on the back of the ear lobe and you'll be able to hear me and Ned."
I put it on the back of my ear lobe.
"The ear piece is also a tracker," Peter says.
"Where did you get this?" I asked him.
"Oh, I made it," He says.
"Wow, I'm impressed," I say. Peter's mask eyes widen.
"T-Thanks."
I look down at the small market. It looked shady alright. I saw someone walk into it. I looked back over at Peter.
"I'll let you know if I see anyone," I say before tackling him in a hug. He hugged me back.
"Okay, I'll be watching," Peter says. I break away from the hug and pull up his mask so its just above his lips. I then kiss him. He kisses me back. I pull away and hug him one last time.
We pull apart and he hands me what looks like rope, but is a web.
"I'll lower you down," He says as we go to the side of the building. I then started to climb down the building as Peter kept me steady with the web. I got to the bottom and let go of the web.
I looked back up at Peter and gave him a thumbs up before I walked over to the market.
---
I walk into the market and immediately felt uneasy. It was dark. There were a few windows but not a lot.
A man was standing at the opposite side of the store, sitting on a bench, sipping on coffee. There was an old lady working at the cash register. She was asleep.
I walked through the store, trying to act like a normal costumer.
"You see anyone?" I hear Peter say in the ear piece, making me jump.
"No," I whisper. "There's a man across the store and a sleeping old lady working the cash register."
"Alright, just let me know when something happens," Peter says.
"Okay," I whisper.
I walked around the store a couple more times, picking up an occasional bag of chips, making it look like I was looking for food.
I looked back over at the cash register. The old women was still sleeping. I decided that I would approach the counter.
"Um, excuse me mam?" I asked the women, hoping to wake her up.
I frowned. Seeing she was still sleeping. I turned to see that the man sitting on the bench was gone.
I turned back to the woman.
"Mam? Are you alright?" I asked starting to get a little worried of the woman's health. She didn't respond. I didn't hear her breathing.
"What's going on?" I hear Ned ask.
"I don't know," I whisper.
"What's happening?" Peter asks. Before I can answer the question I reach forward to tap the woman.
No response.
I tap again and she still doesn't respond. I then tap her again and her body falls forwards. I gasped out loud to see a bloody knife sticking out of her back.
"What happened?" I heard Peter ask, worried.
"They killed the old lady cashier!" I whisper-shouted as I back away from the counter. I turned to see three men standing in front of the exit.
"I saw three men enter the market!" I hear Peter exclaim. I didn't respond. I just stared at the men.
"Veronica Taylor, your coming with us," I hear a man say. I didn't say anything. I just stood there, petrified at what they had done.
"You killed that woman!" I exclaimed.
"Grab her," The man said as the other two came at me and grabbed my arms. I struggled.
"Hey let me go!" I yell, alerting Peter I was being taken in.
"She's being taken Peter! She's in!" I hear Ned yell.
"Veronica! I know you won't be able to talk, but listen to us, okay?" He says as I am dragged out of the market and to a black van.
Before I'm pushed into the van, I looked up to see Peter on top of the same building. None of the HYDRA agents saw him, but I did. I gave him a look of worry before I was pushed into he van.
One of the HYDRA agents grabbed me and placed a wet cloth over my mouth. Me being the idiot I am, I accidently breathed in, causing me to start to black out.
"No wait Veronica! Stay with us!" I hear Peter yell in the ear piece before I was overtaken by darkness.
