All Alone

Chapter 29

       Maxon shoots up. He eyes were somewhat blurry at the moment, so he couldn't tell who the people standing over him were. 

      "Get back!" Maxon yelled, and in an action of instinct he sent Skylar flying.

      "Maxon! Calm down! It's just us!" Bella said.

      "Skylar came limping back. "OW!" She yelled.

      "I'm sorry!" He said in a somewhat remorseful tone. 

       "Guys!" Bella calls for the others to come see him up. They all rush over, except Jack who casually walked over.

       "Maxon!" Mia ran over and hugged him.

        For once, Maxon gives a small laugh. Skylar gasps, and everyone laughs at her reaction.

       Maxon looked at Skylar and it finally hit him. "You're alive!" He said and paused a moment. "I was hoping you would die." He said harshly.

      "No!" Everyone said.

       Skylar slaps him. "That's your response after I just saved your guts!?" She yelled and stormed off.

      "Way to go genius." Jack said harshly and went to bring Skylar back.

      "You need to work on that." Bella glares at Maxon.

       Jack comes rushing back. "She's gone." He told everyone.

     "What!?" Maxon yells.

       Jack punches him. "If anything happens to her again, I will not hesitate to kill you." He snapped harshly.

      "Not now boys!" Bella yelled at them.

      "I believe it would be best to split up. If we cover more ground we have a better percentage of finding her." Alex spoke.

       Everyone surprisingly turned, for they forgot he was there. Maxon headed in the direction Skylar ran while everyone else went other directions.

       He found some tracks. As he followed them, he found a little gulf. The was a lake with a little island in the middle. On the right was a waterfall. He found Skylar sitting at the lake's edge.

     "I'm sorry." He said to her.

     "For what? Meeting me?" She asked him harshly. She turned around and looked at him. "Why are you still here?" She asked coldly.

      He walked over. He was going to sit down next to her until he tripped on a raised root. He fell and crashed into Skylar. His head hits her's, and their lips meet. 

      The both go wide-eyed, get up, and wipe their lips.

      It was silent as the both slightly glared at each other.

    "Let's go back." Maxon said, breaking the silence.

      She agreed and followed him. When they got back to camp, everyone was already there.

    "There they are." Bella said rushing over to them.

    "Where were you?" Jack asked Skylar. He then turns and glares at Maxon. "Did he hurt you?" He asked.

     "Why would I hurt her!?" Maxon snapped as he glared back.

      Bella walks in between the two boys and looks at Skylar. "I'm glad you're back safely." She hugged Skylar. Over her shoulder, she gives Maxon the death stare. 

      Jack laughs.
