Hayley
“So, Nathan. Why did you want to see me so badly?” Hayley asked him curiously.
“What’s wrong with a guy seeing a girl he likes?” Hayley felt her heart flutter.
“You like me?” Hayley said as they walked and tucked a curl behind her ear.
“Yeah, Hayley, I really do. I mean. I always have and well, I just didn’t know how to tell you.” He admitted. He looked behind them nervously. Hayley’s arm brushed against his purposefully, she hoped he would catch the clue.
“Nate, I...” She didn’t know how to say it.
“I think, I feel the same way about you.” She bit down on her lip. She meant every word but she didn’t know what could happen from this point on, would she get over Lewis? Would it be wrong to go for Nate? He looked down at her and slid his hand into hers, locking his fingers with hers.
She felt herself floating away. He didn’t say anything, just kept walking and held her hand firmly in his own. All in the while the sun was slowly drooping over the horizon. Nate swooped Hayley up in his strong arms and ran into the waves washing over the sand. Hayley squealed.
He bent down and dropped her into the water softly, she got soaked from head to toe. As she resurfaced she scooped up a handful of the salty, cool water and flung it at Nate. It turned into a splashing and wrestling match in the shallow water. By the time they were both covered in water and white sand they both rolled over each other onto the warm sand. She was pinned down by Nate; he was so much stronger than Lewis.
Her chest heaved as she breathed in short breaths. He held her hands at her sides above her head. Nate smiled down at her. She studied his exquisite features, his toned arms and handsome face staring down at her. Slowly he lifted his hand and brushed a strand of wet hair off of her face and stroked her cheek with his warm fingers. He rolled off of her and sat next to her, looking intently out at the sun which was finally slipping beneath the horizon.
Hayley sat up, leaned forward and wrapped her arms over her knees. Nate broke his eyes off of the sun to look at Hayley. He put his arm over her back and pulled her into his chest. She leaned her head against his broad shoulder. She felt so warm inside. So right, but yet, this was so wrong.
“Even the sun sets in Paradise.” He whispered.
