Nathan
As Nate hung up he felt a surge of energy wash over him, he needed to call Hayley, to see if Lewis was still there. He knew Lewis would do something stupid if he was not with anyone. He had never been suicidal before but he had the tendency to make irrational and somewhat impulsive decisions when he was upset. Nate dialled Hayley’s number and pressed the phone to his ear as he paced up and down his room nervously. Hayley picked up on the other end.
“Hey Nate.”
“Where’s Lewis?” Nate blurted out, not even thinking.
“He ran out of here about half an hour ago, after he um, he kissed me.” Nate didn’t even process the fact that his best friend had just kissed his own ex-girlfriend and Nate’s newfound girlfriend.
“Hayley where did he go?!” Nate practically shouted down the line.
“I, I don’t know, wh-, why? Did something happen?” Hayley stuttered.
“His mother Hayz, she, she’s dead.” Nate found it so hard to accept. It was hard for him to even say the words.
“No, no, you’re wrong! She can’t be, I know she was sick, but it’s impossible. Please tell me this isn’t some sick joke.” Hayley’s voice cracked with emotion. Nate shook his head and looked down at the floor, crossing his arm over his chest.
“I can’t believe it either. It seems so unreal. We need to find Lewis; I don’t want him to do something...”
“Stupid.” Hayley finished.
“Exactly, we all know he makes reckless decisions.”
“I’ll go and look for him.” Hayley sounded determined.
Nate knew that once she had her mind set, she was unstoppable.
