Chapter 13 Varian
My study was dark, lite only by a single candle.
Shadows dancing and fought upon the walls.
I closed my eyes, centering myself, calming my emotions and clearing my mind. I breathe out, focusing my energy on the candle.
Phoenix.
Fire.
Girl.
Power.
These thoughts channeled and fueled my search.
Nothing.
I kept the channel open, just in case.
I opened my eyes, sighing in frustration.
For a week, my search had gone like this, totally and utterly fruitless and pointless. Its like she didn't even exist.
The candle bobbed.
I tilted my head in confusion.
Its tiny flame started to turn different colors. From a vivid orange to a blazing blue, from a scarlet red to a sunny yellow. It finally settled on a pure, blinding white.
My eyes widen.
This Phoenix was strong, stronger than any Phoenix before, even that bitch Marianne!
My mind immediately shot though the channel and grasp her strong echo. It wasn't her true mind, only her echo, the hint that she was there.
If this was only an echo, she was fucking mind-blowing powerful.
Damn can I string together a good sentence of foul words into a description when need be. Ha.
I concentrated back on her.
Fucking little sly bitch!
I can't tell anything more about her! Urgh...
This Phoenix was very frustrating.
I doubt she was deliberately blocking people, I think it's an instinct. Hopefully my Capital Knights will find her, and report it. If not, there was a shit ton of hell to pay...
I glowered at the candle.
It seemed to giggle and dance taunting me.
I frowned.
A very clearly feminine mind, but incredibility powerful and dangerous. It was filled with curiosity and it brushed up on my mind again.
I know what you are girl.
The mind recoiled, surprised.
I know who you are, Varian. It whispered back at. I know you have set out to find me. I know that you won't stop until you find me. That will no longer be necessary. Cause soon, I shall reveal myself to the world.
I sent a probe at her mind, seeking information of her location and what village was stupid enough to hide and protect her.
It was deflected.
I am coming for you girl. And once I find you and who hid you, both will regret it.
I could hear the mental chuckle.
Seriously Varian? I had been raised to think that you powerful and dangerous. To be honest, the only danger I see from you is the fact you have comes to a agreement with the Daemons. Even that does not frighten nor concern me. Besides they are more of a danger to you.
I snorted.
And how can my own allies be a danger to me?
For a youngster she seem to be much more aware of what was going on in the world.
You will learn soon Varian. Sometimes your own allies, your "friends" can end up as your enemy and betray you.
That was it. The last whispered comment from the last Phoenix.
I sat there stunned.
It was obvious she was quite young. But her words, were wiser beyond her years.
The day was just beginning as I ponder the young but powerful Phoenix's words.
