You trip and your leg completely shatters. The buildings, caught in flame and ash, wither down to nothing. Smoke clogs your vision from making out anything, your eyes beginning to tear from the pain and the ash. A Titan approaches - and inside your heart, deep down inside your soul, you know you're going to die. You're going to die on this street. There is no one. The scene lays eerily isolated, as if the citizens were picked out and moved.

Completely alone, just you and this approaching Titan.

But..but where was the soldier? There was a soldier, you remembered. A soldier in a green cape. Tall and proud, confident and indefatigable.

Where...where did he go?

~

It's the dead of night. Your eyes open as if they've been like that the entire time. Your door is secured shut, your body still dressed in uniform. Moving your body was painful, your head rushing with blood as you propped yourself up. There's a feeling of overlooming doom. A silence, so raw and so piercing, overtakes the castle's structure like that of a bed sheet. You crack open the door and look up and down the halls. An unearthly feeling fills the floor, bouncing off the walls like the melody of a piano in minor key. Your gut tells you staying isn't the answer; you move. The halls seem to tilt and whirl, voices whispering by candlelight at the end of the hall.

The doorway, left ajar just slightly, reveals a few soldiers inside, passing about some type of card game, having a quiet conversation that they find blissfully amusing. You move on, continuing down the corridor. The air becomes chill near the end, the candlelight completely faded past the twists and turns. The end of the hallway is an open archway to the outdoors. It's not completely dark outside, either because it has not yet struck dusk or the sun was soon to rise. A body, a man's body, faces the trees alone. He's tense, remaining still.

"Captain Levi?"

He doesn't react.

"Is that you, sir?"

Without a response, you inch closer to the standing man. His body is dressed in sleep attire, his hair a raggedy mess. Unsure of how to approach him, you stay by his side and look into the direction of his perception. An empty tree line lays beyond his field of vision. In a slow and gradual movement, you ease your fingertips to the right sleeve of his white top, and just before you can feel the fabric of his blouse between the pads of your fingers, his body snaps from its dream-like state.

"Are...are you alright, sir?"

His breathing was similar to that of a low humming. He's speechless, staring off into the distance as he did before, but now uncomfortably aware of his previous trauma. His eyes flutter for a few seconds more before he builds up the courage to speak.

"Why are you here, L/N?"

You're dumbfounded.

"I..well - I awoke, Captain Levi."

"I'm dismissing you to your quarters."

You're about to move, baffled by his response but willing to cooperate, when you stop to look back into the trees.

"What did you see, sir?"

His eyes skim back to the edge of the tree line, hesitantly falling back into one specific area. The thing he saw - whatever it was - remained in place.

"A breeze."

You await a moment more before leaving for bed. As you walk away, Levi's fingers tug at his right sleeve.

~

Bees buzz outside your window in clusters. A nest, you noticed, had been formed in a small corner of the window pane. The sun gently curled its way through the glass and snuck down to the corners of your bed. You sneak to the edge, wrapping yourself in a few sheets like one of the nation's nuns. You sit so your feet barely graze the floor, watching the bees tug at one another.

"Y/N?"

You turn just slightly to look at the doorway. Valencia Lowe stands, her hand resting on the doorframe, the door cracked open just a pinch, her body slightly tilted forward as if curious as to why you're covered in a cocoon. She seems to hold in a small giggle.

"We're going out today."

"Oh. Yeah. Sorry - thanks, Valencia."

She nods, closes the door and leaves. You return to staring out the window before her words fully process in your head.

"Shit!"

~

You appear to be the last soldier to walk up to block. A couple glance your way in amazement, a few cracking jokes at your appearance. Maybe Valencia told everyone about the cocoon thing.

Calum whistles as you walk past. "That is one getup, L/N."
