You wake up alone.
You raise your body up with extreme ease as if the previous memories were just dreams.
You stretch your legs, wiggle your fingers. You choose to stand, your bare feet against some dusty platform. The atmosphere feels much different from beforehand, much less dizzy and warm. You get a sense that someone still remains in the corner of the room watching, but when you scan the room once again, the absence of a body proves you wrong.
You trudge back and forth to each wall, letting your legs get used to movement. The feeling is close to having lead as legs. Opposite the direction of the bed, in the front of the room, a scratched door stands and watches idly as you move about. Light just barely illuminates below its frame.
It's a risk, but you slowly creep up to the frame and press your ear against the wood. It's silent outside, just the sounds of wind blowing through the cracks of the floorboards. You turn the door knob slowly, so slow that it seems you're not even moving anything. You pull the door forward to your body, the light slowly taking over across the floor.
As far as you can tell, no one seems to be inside the house. A lantern is perched on a desk right outside the bedroom's door, a window open above it. It's night, but no one is lurking about.
You make a run for the door. The cold night's air bursts onto your face and through your lungs. Trees surround the plot of land, and you realize you have no idea where you are, or where you may be going.
You turn back to peer at the eerily lit house, its door still ajar, urging you to come back. Just as you're about to turn your head forward again, something tackles you from the side. You're thrown into the dirt, looking up at a dark, looming figure holding your wrists down.
"What do you think you're doing?"
You kick with your leg upwards, slamming the guy right into the crotch. He lets out an unsettling yelp of pain and squirms his body into itself. You take this opportunity to get up and run. The guy, Reiner Braun, looked to have been collecting kindling.
There were three of them, you remember.
You rush for the trees, hiding within the brush.
"Y/N!" Someone calls out. It's a distant echo, far enough for you to continue without being noticed.
You stumble through the weeds and the overgrown tree limbs. Adrenaline pumps wildly into your bloodstream, keeping you moving, blurring out your sense of everything but forward.
"Y/N! Come back!"
You laugh through your nose. "See you in hell."
Something snaps. You urge to a stop, the greens still shaking from your urgent movement. It's too dark to see unless you focus long enough. Slowly, you lean against a tree, holding your breath.
There are no other noises, just the occasional sounds of cicadas. With your heart racing at 100 miles an hour, you couldn't hold your breath any longer. You suck in a large gulp of air as silently as you can, still listening and waiting for something.
"Y/N," the voice is right next to you now. In the small ray of moonlight, you make out Reiner's face. "Y/N, don't move."
You turn the opposite direction to run, only to be stopped by Annie. The tall boy who you met earlier completes the circle around you. There's no way to run.
"Y/N, you have to be incredibly careful." Annie softly inclined. "What's in your bloodstream...you're basically a bomb."
"What?"
Reiner speaks this time, his hands out in a gesture used to tame animals. "Don't do anything irrational. One wrong move and you'll go off."
"I'm...I'm a bomb?"
*To be continued in chapter 140...
Author's note: I'm still working and updating. Because of the amount of options and endings, I wanted to release part of the story but I still need to finish. Thank you for reading, more will be updated soon!
