Me and Edmund just wander around the crowd with no definite goal in our mind. He didn't know anyone and I didn't want to talk to anyone.
He grabbed my hand; and I feel as if my guts had gotten into a tight not. Unable to free itself; they struggle and make it worse.
'Come on', he mumbled ,'let's just get some food'
I blankly nodded; not sure what else to reply to. I had realized something just an hour ago.
I love Edward.
I have fallen into that poor category of girls who'd have secret attractions to people they knew they'd never have or taste even in general.
This was like High school movies all over again with the popular boy and the nerdy dorky girl. Thing is, in reality, the girl never gets the guy. Movies tend to be quite cheesy in that type of way.
Even an action is a fairytale. Simple with no spells yet depicts a life that you'd know no one would have unless it was based on true events.
Edward guided me through the crowd till we reached the buffet of tables. Each adorned with different categories of food. The first table contained starters such as spring rolls and prawn crackers and mock tails. The second; a lighter meal as those of a salad. The third and fourth and along with the fifth contained meaty items. The Sixth was seafood and seventh was for vegetarians while the final table had desserts that involved a chocolate fountain with strawberries piled high in a bowl; calling my name.
Elena! Elena! Please, eat me. I want to be taken in by you....
Wow, that thought came out wrong. What was I even thinking?
'Second thought', Edward mumbled ,'I'm not eating this food'
'What? Why?', I ask him.
'I want to try something plain. Bread and just one type of curry'
I smirk at the thought,'I know a place. Come on'
===========================
Have you ever watched a person who's been eating extravagant dishes by a golden spoon since he was born, eat bread and spicy chicken kheema?
I think not.
I led him to this little Indian shop I used to go with mum most of the times. It was dirt cheap. We enjoyed most of our lunches here; tasting almost everything on the menu; starting with the spiciest.
But Edward had never tasted 'true spice'. He choked on the mild hot chicken curry soon as he kept it on the tip of his tongue.
'Hey hey, if you don't like it, we can try something else!', I tell him through the teeth gritting giggles.
'Yes please'
I then ordered a chicken biriyani. I remember trying it when Deepika ( an old Indian friend ) suggested it a few years back.
It's absolutely delicious.
Edward looked at the thick mush that was the curry and just shook his head ,'No way am I going to eat this! It looks slimy'
'I'll quit if you don't', I told him.
I meant it as a joke but he immediately poked a spoon inside his mouth and actually slowed down his chewing to enjoy it.
'Told you', I pointed out.
He ate the whole dish. I just ate some pistachio ice cream from the town's local ice cream shop now that I can fully afford.
'Edward...', I hold his arm; wanting him to stop in his tracks when we just entered an empty street ( we were walking for a change ),'I never said thank you'
