Chapter 18 : Travelling the - wait, are those cookies?

I'M GOING TO DERENTIA!

Oh my god! I haven't traveled anywhere in the world before! I'm literally jumping up and down.

It was tea time and it's normally a very quiet atmosphere.
Until grandpa told me that we were going back to my 'true home'

'Are you serious?', I giggled; squirting back and forth in my seat.

'Yes Elena', Grandpa's eyes twinkled,'very serious'

'Oh my god! I'll finally start my life of traveling the- wait, are those cookies?', I divert my attention at the new arrival of a white dish containing chocolate chip cookies.

'Yes your majesty', Hildegard chuckled,'Your recipe'

'Majesty... please just call me Elena', I tell her ,'These cookies better exceed my cookie making recipe reputation!'

'See how the change of topic just moved on Leonard? You've got yourself a handful', Rupert chuckled.

'Yes, but with my hand been empty for almost twenty years.  A handful is all a man like me could ask for', Leonard replied; clearly delighted,'I was wanting to ask you if it isn't too much. A small request'

'Yes?', Anastasia asked,'Anything my old friend.

'Dear Anastasia, you and Rupert had been too nice to me. I ask of a small company maybe of three or four to come with me. Keep Elena company while she gets used to the setting', Leonard asked.

'Of course! And I think I already know my sons are willing', Rupert laughed.

'Definitely!', Oliver chimed in.

Edward just shrugged with a smile.

'Perhaps Raina and Derick could come as well?', Leonard asked Rupert.

'Are you sure you want to get more company?', Anastasia bit her lip,'My sons are plenty trouble enough'

'What nonsense! Invite those two siblings as well. If my eyes were right yesterday... I think my granddaughter had an eye for that dashing brother of Raina's', Leonard chuckled.

I almost died in my seat. My cheeks were as hot as the sun and as red as a cherry. Surely, Leonard is not one of those embarrassing grandparents am I right?

'Very well', Anastasia let in,'They'll be informed'

'When is the trip Uncle Leonard?', Edward finally asked.

'Why my boy wait? Let's go first thing in the morning!', Grandpa declared.

Tomorrow!

I'm still up like a bat when I should be sleeping. Oh my god, I'm just excited I suppose.

I start fidgeting on the bed; shifting positions as many times a fidget spinner spins.

I get up. I decide to do something to pass time. I decide to make sure I have everything in my bag to take to Derentia. Anastasia had let me take some dresses from the wardrobe even though there's probably better ones in Derentia; waiting for me.

1. Clothes. Check.
2. Toothbrush and bathroom things. Check.
3. Make up. I don't have much of that but check anyway.

Yep, that's it I guess. I only have to pack in my phone which is currently charging on the bedside table near the right side of my bed.

All I have to do now is just sleep.

I'm finding that really difficult. I open the doors to my room and wander around the corridors; hoping no one is up because I was in this short red silky night gown. It was highly inappropriate if my grandfather or Anastasia or Rupert or anyone in the matter appeared suddenly.

'You're up late', I turn to see who spoke and of course it had to be the owl himself.

'Edward', I greeted. Why does he always meet me in these flimsy nightwear?

'What are you doing up?'

I try to find a proper answer but there wasn't one,'I guess I just couldn't. Maybe from excitement'

He raised his perfect eyebrow,'Excitement? Of Derick coming over?'

I blushed,'No, I meant traveling'

'Oh', he replied; looking a bit exasperated.

'Why? Was I making you jealous?', I ask. I knew I was crossing some invisible line but I couldn't care less.

'I already told you before', he chuckles,'You are'

He comes close to me and leans his lips near my ears. His breathing making me shudder,'You know you're mine sweetheart'

I almost fainted,'Yours? No, Raina's yours'

He smiled,'I lied when I told her body was better. You are much better. I knew it just from that tiny lousy kiss we shared in that cheap hotel room'

Tiny? Lousy?

I slapped him,'How dare you speak to me that way! You're an engaged man. Respect your fiancé'

'Respect her?', he shouted,'Respect her! I know you want her gone as much as I do'

I can hear murmurs of people rousing behind every bedroom. The servants and guards would no doubt be here in less than a minute.

'So you don't want to be with her?...', I let out in something barely a whisper.

'How can you be that daft....', he says ,'Nothing I uttered in that hotel room was true'

'But you said all those things... I thought I was just one of your sidelines...'

'You were never a sideline. And you'll never be. Me marrying Raina? That's just something I was trying to do to make you hate me. Loving someone... that's not me... but you changed me Elena', he turned away,'For the better or for the worse'

And then he was gone. Just like that.

'Elena? Your majesty, is that you?', I hear Beugard call out behind me.

'Oh Beugard! Shameful man! Turn away and conceal your eyes!', I hear Hildegard call out behind him. I hear his gasp and I felt Hildegard hold my shoulders,'Let's take you back to your room your highness. No man unless  a lover should see you like this'

And she pushed me towards my room.

My lover....

Is Edward my lover?

Anyway, this is a total cliffhanger isn't it? Wonder what Elena would do...

And just when I introduced Derick!

This is becoming a whole set of drama in a minute.
