I'm going to be a goat bragging about his own horns and say that my cookies were the best!

They literally stayed nice and chewy up till tea!

'You're an excellent baker Elena', Oliver commented.

'Thank you', I chuckle. Oliver had basically eaten the whole bowl of them. Cookie crumbs adorned him from the top of his forehead to the end of his pointy little chin.

I was just trying to hold back the giggles I've been suppressing in my throat for so long.

'Yes. They taste lovely dear', King Rupert commented as well.

The queen nodded in agreement even though she didn't  consume one herself. I realize she didn't eat much sweet things just now as I recall her rejecting the bowl of ice cream yesterday.

Edward had been sent to get King Leonard. Yes, he's coming today. And no, he doesn't know about me. And the queen kept to her word and didn't tell Edward about me. She had told Oliver though who didn't seem the bit dazzled; almost as if he knew all along.

My heart almost stopped when the hall's high mighty doors swung open earlier than expected. Edward led a man inside; talking with him with a grim expression. Probably about business.

'My dear Leonard! It's been a while my old friend', Rupert got up to embrace the old man in an brotherly embrace.

The man was all white hair which was aged not of age but of sadness and grief. His eyes twinkled like blue crystals as he greeted his old friend. He had a very small sweet face which showed the grief he was in. He was a plump man in elegant red robes.

'Yes dead Rupert. It surely has. I was surprised by your invitation. I wasn't aware of you finishing that expedition yet', he replied in a sweet tone.

'Yes well I arrived only recently. Anyway, I invited you because I had gotten a small gift for you', Rupert replied.

My heart almost stopped. I wanted to reveal myself to him on my own time and decision even though I just wanted to cry of joy and leap onto his arms pronouncing myself as his long lost granddaughter.

'You spoil me Rupert. Although since it's a gift you've made me travel to get, I'm rather curious', Leonard replied.

'Yes well, I'll give it to you when it's fully ready', Rupert said.

'Fully ready?'

'You'll know', Rupert added with a smile.

Leonard seemed to have notice the rest in the room only now. He greeted Oliver formally,'Last time I saw you, you were painting the palace walls!'

'I still do Uncle Leonard. You know me. I'm a rather mischievous kid', Oliver chuckled.

He greeted the queen in a brotherly hug,'Beautiful as ever Anastasia'

'Spoiling me with your flattering comments again Leonard. You might as well say that to my husband', She replied in a small laugh, smiling till the point she couldn't no more.

Then he turned to me and I became dead still,'And who is this charming young lady?'

Charming? I think not. I haven't even bothered to change properly. I was just in a plain yellow sundress and wedges with my hair in the most messiest ponytail ever.

'This is Elena', Edward introduces me. I rather wish someone else did. But I think they all expected me to introduce myself but I was just glued to the spot; my mouth sealed as if it was pasted with glue.

'Ah, A lovely name... the last letter I had gotten from my youngest daughter had said that she gave birth to my grandchild. She named her Elena as well. I might not have seen my granddaughter but it's lovely to meet a beautiful maiden as you whose sharing her name', he commented rather sadly.

I wanted to soo badly hug him but my fingers clenched to fists as I tried to keep back the tears,'Thank you your majesty. You'll meet your granddaughter. For sure you will someday'

'Maybe', was all he said and he started another conversation with Rupert.

'Are you okay?', Edward whispered. He had sat next to me.

'Why do you even care?', I mutter quietly.

'I don't know', he whispered; more to himself than me,'I don't know'

I sit still as if I never heard him replying. He didn't make another attempt at even trying another conversation with me.

Tea was soon over and Leonard was led to another guest bedroom to reside in for his stay. He said goodbye to all of us and declared that he was going to rest as it was a rather tiring journey he had undertaken.

I was back in my room now; deciding on a dress for tomorrow's little
Birthday ball. Edward's ball. Why I was even attending, I don't know. But there was just something I had to do tomorrow.

I skipped dinner to get an early night's sleep. I felt quite refreshed in the morning. Even though it was dinner; people will probably be arriving at around five in the afternoon.

Hildegard had offered a small makeover for me and I took it. I was scared at first but she turned out to be pretty good. She got the help of another maid -I forgot the name- and did my hair to an elegant bun.

Believe it or not. The makeover lasted four hours. It was already four in the afternoon.

I had already decided on the dress and I was rather excited to wear it. It was a beautiful white ballgown with blue-white like crystals adorning it. It went well with my dark hair. I had gone out in the morning and purchased a crystal like heels and when I was fully done; I felt like a real life Cinderella.

I was already a half hour later. Everyone would have arrived by now. These royals are never late. I have no idea how but they never seem to be.

Even for breakfast. It's just unbelievable. They arrive exactly on time and finish any course within ten minutes. I'm a very slow eater so I'm forced to gobble food down as fast as I possibly can.

Tick. Tock.

The big clock above my bed was ticking away; basically pronouncing me as later. I pulled my dress a little up and ran down the corridors and stopped when I was just outside the ballroom. The big oak doors swung open as if they could see me already standing outside through them. Magical guards. Cool.

I entered into the immediate noisy atmosphere full of people talking and glasses clanking.

People stopped to see the new arrival which was me. I spot Edward; his hands around Raina looking at me with clear shock on his face.

'Miss, can I have your name to introduce you to the crowd', a guard asked.

Well here goes nothing.

'My name is Elena Reginald Leonard Florine Helen. One of the two remaining bloodlines to the kingdom of Derentia', I said and the man shouted my name.

I spot Leonard just below the staircase; looking at me as he dropped his champagne glass that broke when it contacted the ground.

Well, there goes his night.

************************************short chapter, I know.

But anyway, I hope you like this Chappie. Worked hard on it to have a cliffhanger ending. Maybe it isn't a proper cliffhanger but eh. 😋. #satisfactionreached.

Picture of Elena's dress is right up! Take a look!

See you soon my minions!
