*Elena's View*
December twentieth.
Days have been passing long before I could even say 'Boo'
I scratched my head; no one seemed to know it was my birthday. Earlier, I was okay but now I was becoming highly depressed. No one seemed to remember. No one seemed to care.
I decided to go out to the rose gardens and spend the afternoon there curled up on a bench with a book in my hand; ready to read and relax.
This time, I picked 'Heidi'. I've read it twice before from our village's local library...
Just picking it up brought happy childhood memories of me and my mother back to my mind. Heidi was the first book I've ever read after school books.
I silently tip toed to the garden; avoided anyone that might intrude my Intended relaxation. It made me slow but at least I reached there with no one to annoy me on my trail.
I found a bench and curled up on a corner. The rose smells were intoxicating and were tickling my nose; distracting me from reading.
When I finally found the focus to turn to the sixth chapter, I heard a sudden,'Mew'
I shrugged it off thinking it was nothing when I heard it again. And again. And again. Constantly, it rained of mews.
Mew. Mew. Mew. Mew.
I finally began to feel irritation itch my back. I decided to find the source of the culprit. I finally resolved to look under the bench when the bushes were clear of anything or anyone.
There was a small fluffy white cat, curled up in a ball, only one of it's front legs were pushed away from the rest of the body. A small thorn was embedded into it.
I looked into the startled blue eyes of the cat. It was shivering from certain fright. I can see its efforts to run but just to slump back in pain.
I nod more to myself than to reassure the cat and slowly picked it up from under the bench and onto my lap on the ground. It's quavering body didn't go unnoticed.
'Shhh', I look at her injured paw,'This is going to a hurt a bit. But don't worry, you'll be okay'
As if it understood my words, it ceased all actions and became still. I held the thorn with my nails, ready to pull it out. In one sharp movement, it was now on the floor. The cat didn't even flinch. It moved its little head to let her stare into my own.
She pulled her paw back and began to stretch on my lap. She started to cuddle against me.
'You little thing', I chuckled ,'You were scared but now you're treating me as if I was your pillow!'
I picked up the cat and grabbed my book as I headed back inside.
Hildegard shrieked,'That's an animal In our walls! In all the years I've served this castle! I've never even allowed an ant!'
'Hildy?', I hear Anastasia turn to our corner,'What's this commotion about?'
'I'm sorry your majesty for troubling you', she mumbled but then pointed to the cat in my hands,'But her majesty Elena bought a foul thing in here!'
'Don't say that Hildegard', I softly replied,'She's a cute little angel. She was injured. I helped her'
Anastasia looked at me with kind eyes and then looked at the cat. She strolled over and just picked her off from my hands and into hers,'She's a cutie. What's her name?'
'She?', I asked.
'I've a veterinarian uncle who thought me to recognize some species's genders', she explained,'Now tell me, what's your name if you're to stay here? You make an ideal royal pet'
'Royal pet?...', mumbled Hildegard, clearly dumbfounded.
'I'd like to name her Saphira', I blurted. I've been thinking of names when I walked in to the castle. Saph if it was a boy and Saphira if it was a girl. It suited the Saphira eyes she wore.
The queen stopped and pondered on this. She twirled the cat,'Saphira it is. The new royal pet. Hildegard, prepare a small room for the new inhabitant of this castle's walls. Oh and perhaps a bathe and manicure for it as well'

I was on Edward's lap on his room,'And that's what happened', I explained as I retold my little story.
I briefly added humor, describing Hildegard's stunned face at the mention of a manicure.
He chuckled,'You really do like to annoy that old woman don't you?'
'Not on purpose', I shrugged sheepishly,'It just happens'
He started howling with laughter. He clutched his stomach as if he was about to fall over.
I glared at him. But then my frown slowly turned into a noticeable smirk.
Hildegard really did look funny.
