The weekend passed in a flash and Monday came around again. Sam was hanging out with Opal in a classroom during lunch break. Opal was opening up her sandwich from its wrapper while Sam stared blankly out the window with her lunch untouched in front of her.

"What does it feel like to be in love?" asked Sam in a daze.

Opal stopped mid bite into her sandwich and looked at Sam in shock. Sam turned her head to face Opal and saw her in the frozen state. The silence lasted so long, a pickle ended up slipping out of Opal's sandwich onto the desk.

"Um, Opa-"

Before Sam knew it, Opal burst out in laughter that echoed throughout the classroom and the hallways. Sam jumped at her sudden explosion and felt her face go red with embarrassment after realizing how cheesy and out of character her comment must have sounded. Sam buried her head into her arms and hid under her cardigan.

As Opal's laughter died down, she carefully wiped under her eyes to avoid smearing her makeup and said, "I'm sorry, I'm sorry. That was just so random it caught me off guard. Especially from the ruler of 'not-knowing-about-love' town. Where did that even come from?"

"I dunno. I was just curious," she said.

Opal observed Sam while she pushed her food around with a flushed face. Sam could feel her stare, so she looked up and met Opal's piercing eyes.

"What?" asked Sam.

Opal got up from her seat and went over to Sam.

"Come with me for a second," she said tugging on Sam's arm.

"Uh, okay?" said Sam confused.

Sam let herself be pulled to wherever Opal was taking her. They walked out of the classroom and over to the staircase. Opal brought her into the crevice behind the staircase that could only be seen if someone approached from behind like how they walked in.

Nobody is around right now because of lunch. Why would she take me over here, thought Sam.

"Hey, Opal. Why are we her-"

Before Sam could finish her sentence, Opal lunged forward and placed her hands on Sam's chest. She started fumbling her hands around that area on Sam's body, causing Sam to scream, "Wah! Opal! What are you doing?!"

She tried to wiggle her way out of Opal's hands, but the area around them was so confined that all she could do was try to push her away. Eventually, Opal took her hands away and stepped back from Sam. Sam glared at Opal while she wrapped her arms around her chest to protect herself in case there was another attack.

"I knew it Sam. You're a girl" declared Opal.

Sam felt a wave of panic rush over her body.

"W-What? Opal, I... I don't know what you're talking about," stuttered Sam trying to play it off.

Opal crossed her arms and popped her hip.

"Look me in the eye and tell me that again."

Sam gulped at Opal's intimidating presence. She looked Opal in her fierce, golden eyes and took a deep breath.

"I'm... I'm a..."

Opal raised her eyebrow while she waited for the rest.

"I'm..."

Sam whipped her head away and broke her eye contact with Opal.

"Say it Sam," demanded Opal.

Sam glanced back at Opal.
