The next day came and it was time for Opal, Honey, and Ricky to shine. As Sam woke up, she yawned and stretched her arms above her head. Out of habit, she pointed her toes as well, completely forgetting about her foot. Pain shot through her entire right leg.
"OWWW!!!" she yelled.
Jack and Oliver shot up out of bed in response to her cry, looking around confused and half awake.
Sam couldn't help but start laughing at herself for causing the boys to jump so suddenly. Oliver hopped out of bed and walked over to the side of Sam's bed
"Sam, are you okay?" he asked.
"Yeah dude. I'm fine. I just forgot about my foot when I was stretching."
"You're already making me worry."
"Oh my God. Stop. I'm fine. Now shoo, shoo. Let me get ready."
Oliver let out a defeated sigh that changed into a small smile.
"Okay, okay. Just let us know if you need anything."
Sam agreed and then the three of them got ready for the day. This time, they were going to be the cheerleaders watching their friends play. The trio got dressed and then headed over to the cafeteria to get breakfast.
When they arrived, they saw Opal and Ricky already eating together. Sam smirked to herself since the two seemed to be making good progress. She watched Ricky say something to Opal that almost made her spit out her food. She collected herself and then punched Ricky in the arm, this time causing him to laugh.
Ugh, they're so cute it hurts, she thought while using all her willpower to hold back a huge dopey smile.
Jack, Oliver, and Sam approached the table and said hi to them while setting their things by the table to save their spots. Oliver offered to grab Sam's breakfast for her, so thanked him and told him what she wanted. Jack and Oliver left to get the food while Sam sat down and joined Opal and Ricky at their table.
Sam lifted up her cast and threaded it through the space between the table and bench. Once she was comfortable, she looked up at Opal and Ricky to see them smirking at her.
"What!" she snapped.
"So, how are things going with O—li—ver?" asked Opal.
Sam's eyebrows scrunched together.
"Wait, what?"
"Uhhh, remember what happened yesterday?"
"Uhhh, I broke my foot?"
"Ugh, no Sam! Oliver like, ran to your rescue! And scooped you up like a friggen princess!"
"Oh, that was just him being nice! He's been helping me out since I can't do that much with these stupid crutches. Girl, what the heck were you implying?"
"Hun, you know what I'm implying."
"No, no, no, no. That is not how we are. He likes Honey! And I have no feelings for him whatsoever!"
Sam paused for a moment and a sad expression merged onto her face.
"But... I do feel like for some reason he believes that this is his fault or something."
Opal reached over the table and took Sam's hand.
"Sam, it's all over now. It happened, it's done, you learned your lesson. Now you can move on from all this. And it might take a little time, but Oliver will move on too."
Sam smiled and squeezed Opal's hand.
"Thanks, Opal."
Jack and Oliver returned with their food and they started eating. Honey finally arrived as well and all six of them finished up their meals and got ready for the day. Jack wished them good luck before he parted ways to go meet up with the Student Council.
