I looked out the school window, unconsciously playing with the familiar colored beads on my wrist. A pang of pain shot through me as I tugged at the flimsy red string holding the beads together. I sighed, wishing for class to end. The teacher had just walked out of the room due to giving help to a substitute, who didn't know how to turn on the computer in the classroom next door.

I studied the courtyard our school had carefully. Supposedly bright trees and flowers covered the area making it look beautiful. But all I could see was what could only be described as 'dull'. From a certain angle I could also see the football field and it's rusty bleachers, bringing back fond memories of her that made me smile. I wish I could see her right now, reading that book she loves on the top seat of the bleachers.

"I bet she faked it."

That was a familiar voice. One which I disliked.

I turn to look behind me and see the familiar smug douche, Griffin. He was wearing a smirk and cocky eyes as he spoke to his friends.

"She definitely wants attention. I bet the whole story with her mother is a lie." He said, chuckling in between sentences like the asshole he is.

I glared at the desk in front of me, my mind telling me that I shouldn't do something irrationally stupid, but then again my heart was screaming at me to do something. Something other than sit here and listen to Griffin's, of all peoples, crap. I stood abruptly, causing the area around me to quiet down and look to see what the fuss was about.

I glare over at Griffin, who just smirks in return.

God he really wants to get punched, doesn't he?

"Shut the hell up. You weren't even there." I gritted out. "You don't even know the full story."

He laughed at me. It made me more angry to know he thinks that her life is a joke.

"If the story is actually true, then why didn't you protect her?" He questioned. That struck a nerve. A nerve that I do not like to mess with. I clenched my fists to my sides and burned holes into his eyes.

If looks could kill, he would be dead in a hot second. "I would've."

He turned to his friends who snickered. He also joined in. "I probably would've gotten a reward out of it too." The whole class erupted into 'oohs' as Griffin licked his lips pleasantly at my reaction to the comment.

Rage engulfed me; this guy had the nerve to insult Kori like that? I pushed a couple of desks forcefully away and grabbed him by his collar, shoving him against the nearest wall, ignoring the noises my classmates were making.

"Do not talk about her like that. Like Kori would dive so low. Do I have to remind you that she's the one who beat your ass, Griffin?" I gritted my teeth and watched as Griffins smug expression turned into one of embarrassment and anger. He glared at me as he pushed me roughly back.

He swung his fist at me, successfully hitting me in the jaw. I grunted as I went to tackle him onto the floor, throwing punches wherever I had a chance. We rolled around on the dirty floor for a little bit before the students actually started making space for us to fight in. We both stood and I instantly hit him in the nose, just like I did months before. He grabbed the back of my neck pulling me down aggressively to his chest as he kneed me in the stomach several times.

He lifted my head back up by my hair and punched me, definitely splitting my lip.

He chuckled as we both pulled away from each other. "You're getting even more pathetic everyday, Herrick." He said as I wiped the blood from my lip and glared at him.
