The next morning I awoke to someone beating on the front door of the house. I waited a moment thinking perhaps it was one of the guys messing around, yet the knocking started again. I got up, giving myself a once over in the mirror before I headed out to see who exactly was knocking like a crazy person.
"Who is that?" Kian said as he descended down the stairs, meeting me at the front door.
"I don't know but I just crawled out of bed, you get it!" I said taking a few steps back.
"Fine! I just do everything around here!" He said in a strange voice, opening the door to reveal two teenage girls. Both appeared to be somewhat star stricken, their hearts beating out of their chests, yet they attempted to play it cool.
"Our dad is painting houses today on this street!" the taller girl shouted.
"Yeah, so would you like your house painted? He's a very high quality painter!" the shorter girl screeched.
"Umm no thanks, no. We like the paint we have now." Kian said pointing to the outside walls of the home as he spoke. I examined the girls from afar, it was clear that they were not painting houses. I made eye contact with the taller girl who immediately whispered to the shorter one before waving at me.
"Hey! Do you want your house painted?" the shorter one hollered pointing at me from under Kian's arm.
"I don't have a house to paint!" I hollered back laughing at how hard they were trying to sell this.
"Well girls, thanks but no thanks on the offer. Bye!" Kian said closing the door and locking it.
"What the heck was that?" I laughed as soon as he turned around.
"Occasionally, they find us. We don't quite mind it, but I just really hope it doesn't become a problem. In our apartment so many people would come stand outside or sneak inside that we had to move. When we moved here we started the "No filming outside the house!" rule but I think we've all gotten slightly careless about that." Kian said running his fingers through his hair, as he headed up the stairs. "Well I'm filming up here, Connor's at Tylers, and Ricky and Jc ran to the grocery. Jc is supposed to be whipping up some tacos tonight! Olay!"
I headed back to Jc's room, grabbing my phone as I plopped on to the bed beside Wishbone. I couldn't believe that I had almost slept till two in the afternoon but I had felt more rested than I had my entire stay in the o2l house. I called to check on some of the applications I had turned in yesterday, which got me no where. I laid staring up at the ceiling, thinking about how exactly I got here. It was still crazy for me to think that not to long ago I was a member of the witness protection program, I was sent around the states, hiding and my only friend was Mel. Yet everything changed for me when I was sent here to LA, everything changed for the better. Though there were times I missed Mel, I knew that he was taking care of another girl who needed him just as badly as I had. I thought about how well Jc's friends took me in as one of their own, accepting me quicker than I had honestly expected. I was able to be myself, and do things I had always wanted to do. I got this second chance at life for a reason, I didn't want to waste it. I closed my eyes for a moment, slightly drifting in and out of sleep.
