I didn't know what to expect when I got off the plane in Franklin, Tennessee. I was home though I knew I hadn't considered it to be in years. Walking through the airport I received a few stares though I was used to the looks I got at home. Franklin is a small town and everyone knows everything about everybody. I had received a custom look from the locals since the incident. The look was a mixture of sorrow, pity, and sadness with a slight smile as if they were attempting to offer some happiness in the future. I hated that everyone thought they knew exactly what I was going through when in all honesty they knew nothing. It's something you can't fully understand until you've lived it.
Sitting on the lumpy hotel bed got me thinking about how many hotels I had passed through this year alone while I was on the run with Mel. I was sick of hotels, but I didn't have a choice. The walls were covered in a strange printed wallpaper, something that must have been really cheap because it was awfully ugly. I opened my suitcase, removing my clothes and placing them in the dresser provided. I pulled out Jc's hoodie. God dammit Skylar, why did you have to bring this, I thought. Everytime I saw it it was a reminder of everything that had happened, the bad more so than the good. I should have ditched it in California but I was too attached to it. Perhaps I like the pain of remembering.
I stood at the window looking out on the small town, watching as cars moved quickly down the road, speeding most likely. I took a deep breath and looked toward the left. An open field, that lead up to a cemetery. It was hard to remain calm, I let a few tears escape and turned my head. The sun was setting and dusk was approaching quickly. I threw on Jc's hoodie and grabbed my purse, heading toward the hotel room door. I hadn't come all this way not to see my family.
[A/N: Sorry for the lack of updates! I took a trip to Nashville, Tennessee to go to the One Direction concert! It was amazing, I can't even put it into words! But I was exhausted and dehydrated afterwards and really need a day or two to catch up and get back to reality.]
