Through the dark

“But don't burn out
Even if you scream and shout
It will come back to you
And I'll be here for you”

You were lying in the hospital bed, your hair in a very messy bun on top of your head. Your body was weak and sweaty. He didn’t know how you could take this pain, but he sure was proud over you. He held your hand and kissed your sweaty temple as you started pushing once again as the nurse was between your legs, helping your baby girl into the world. Niall was scared. Not only because he any minute now was going to be a father, a grown up man, but also because you were so tired. You were screaming as you pushed. Niall hated to see you in this pain, thinking that you should had taken the epidural so you would be in less pain. You were shouting like the shouting would take the pain away, but after a few seconds of catching your breath it all started again; the pushing and the screaming. Niall knew nothing about this stuff; he was nervous but had to be strong for you. He can’t be scared now when you’re the one in pain. One thing he did know though was that he was here for you, helping you the best he could through it. If he could take the pain away from you he would. He didn’t want you to burn out, even if you were going to be very tired when this is over. “And here we go,” the nurse said just as the baby came out. She shook on the baby lightly as the other nurse took a suction cup and sucked up all liquid from the mouth. When they did so, the baby’s cry filled the room and Niall released a breath he didn’t knew he held. His sight got blurry from tears as he looked smiling at the baby the nurse was cleaning off. “You did it babe, you did it!” Niall shouted as he cupped your face and kissed your lips hard, blending your tears. “No, we did it,” you said smiling at the baby that was now lying on your naked chest.
