*Kolfinna's POV*

I pulled in front of the pit bull center, the words Villalobos etched across the sign, and shut off the engine to my two door pick up.

"This is it?" Chris asked, a little surprised.

"Hey, I realize the place still looks a little rusty, but we're working on it. Some volunteers and a handful of parolees can't do everything at once." I stated, getting out of the truck. I'm just hoping Chris gets along with the rest of the guys here. Dominate males are supposed to be very protective over their new mate. Oh well, here goes nothing.

*Chris' POV*

I followed Kolfinna out of the truck, only to see her be tackled by a girl with brilliant red and black hair. She was about the same height. I was about to pull her off of Kolfinna, until I heard her giggling from underneath the girl.

"Maria, I was only gone for two days!" Kolfinna squealed from under her. The girl sat up so she was straddling Kolfinna.

"Yeah, but it felt like two centuries! The dogs missed your tummy rubs. Plus I missed your cooking, along with the guys!" The girl, who I'm assuming is Maria, replied. I couldn't help the feeling of jealousy that pervaded my gut. The girl looked up at me and one of her eyebrows raised. She looked me up and down, as if sizing me up. "So this is the new boyfriend?" she asked.

"Maria!" Kolfinna squealed, slightly covering her face with her hair.

"What? You two are together, and you're throwing him into the snake pit. Especially by bringing him here. Wait till mom gets to him!" Maria giggled.

"Why is that such a bad thing? Your mother I mean."

"Eh, she's just particular. You wanna hang around here, she's gonna put you to work. Plus this little gem is the youngest here. She's mom's little baby girl. So don't fuck around with her heart." Maria's tone changed to a threat by the end of her sentence.

"Deal." I replied to her, helping them both to their feet. To be honest, I'm a little worried about making a good impression on these people. I mean, these people mean a lot to Kolfinna. Its so obvious. Maria and Kolfinna held hands and giggled about unheard things, like young best friends who haven't seen one another in a while. These people were her family. And I sincerely felt bad for her. All I could smell was human blood. They were all human, not a single vampire. Her family and friends would soon die, leaving her here just with me. I already knew the affect it would have on her weak body. You see, if a vampire goes through something emotionally damaging, like a loved ones death, the vampire becomes weak, and sometimes bruised. She was really attached to these humans, and I knew it wasn't going to end well for either of us.

P.s sorry, this is really just a fill in chapter, but I promise it ties into the story.
