His hand hadn't been getting any warmer since I had started holding it five hours ago.

Still, I refused to let go, the candle beside me burning out slowly and Patton watching us sleepily, Logan had burned out after studying the stats for over 4 hours and was now lightly snoring as he laid on the many papers and his laptop, three empty coffee mugs standing between the paperwork.

Virgil had not woken up since the blackout.

We still didn't know what had happened.

We were lost.

The room was back again.

The black, endless void cramping me into a small space I wasn't able to move in at all.

My hands, trembling and cramped, my arms hugging my knees, my face wet from tears I didn't cry and my mind wandering in the strangest directions I sat there in that endless tiny space and watched in silence.

"You did this"

A voice coming from my right side, a figure spotted just out of the corner of my eye, and a cold breath on the back of my neck.

"You know what is happening to him don't you?"

"He's having an attack."

The figure nodded in agreement and told me to look forward.

Thomas

My host was sat only twenty feet away. His arms wrapped around him in an attempt to protect himself from anything that might lurk in this endless void. His body shaking and as I looked at him for a while I saw tears rolling down his face, his eyes widened in fear.

I wanted to scream, shout at him to tell him he wasn't alone, tell him he would get through this.
But it seemed as if every time I would try to speak an invisible force kept my lips tied together and I couldn't produce a single noise.

"You know, he doesn't know how to handle this kind of attack. He never had one on his own."

"Then let me have it! I can handle the pain better than him, there is no need for him to get hurt."

"I can't-do that sadly. You see you've gone cold and are not able to take anything at the moment."

I looked at Thomas. If I could just reach out to him I would be able to tell him everything would be okay.
But my body was held captive by an unknown force and I helplessly watched as his silent crying turned into sobbing, and the sobs turned into screams as his body shook as one shock after another wrecked his shacking form.
And I cried as he begged for it to stop, to just stop his pain, to end it so he would be free.

The only thing that was keeping me from falling apart was the strangely comforting feeling on my right hand. It felt as if someone was holding it and I tried to concentrate on that feeling to not lose my mind over the heartbreaking screams as I heard two soft and calming voices whisper not understandable but kind words, their voices echoed in the endless darkness which appeared to had gotten a little less dark as Thomas tried to regulate his breathing as the voices had told him to do.

"Focus on the touch on your hand. Focus on that and only that. Cast out the bad thoughts that cloud your mind, you are safe, you're with us, we are here for you."

Talyn's and Joan's voices seemed to have a calming effect on the still shaking Thomas and he focused on his breathing as the room got lighter and lighter and slowly but surely started to disappear.

Right before his figure completely vanished Thomas turned to look at Virgil.

"You are loved, Virgil. We wouldn't have gotten this far without you, now please wake up okay dear? We... I need you"

A flickering light and a scream of excitement followed by two arms wrapped around him and a face, red and puffy with tears streaming down its cheek was pressed against his neck.

"Oh thank the heavens you've woken up. I have been sitting here for almost ten hours and Patton told me to get some rest but I wanted to be there for you when you woke up because I somehow feel like all of this is my fault and I wanted to make sure you were alright because well..."

Roman stopped mid-sentence and suddenly became very interested in the carpet covering most of the floor.

I noticed our hands appeared to be locked together. Weirdly enough I did not mind at all.
