A door slammed, rattling the wall surrounding it and George slowly realised it was from his own hand that the plaster above, was now snowing on him.

Brian had been slow- too slow, too 'dilly dally it can wait' slow and George was now trying to pace, cool his heels while he waited for Brian to complete his daily ablutions.

Brian was a perfectionist, suit pressed, tie pinned and ramrod straight, face shaved close, shoes mirror polished, clean starched shirt, socks matching, cuff links chosen deathly slow and that stupid handkerchief in his breast pocket folded neatly, sticking out no more than a quarter inch.

Brian took forever and George swung between dragging the fella out of the bathroom half shaved and walking out the door.... to do it all himself.

Settling for the former George got to work, pressing on Brian the urgency as Brian shaved, stating the haste that needed to be taken.

George had already visited Doctor Nate earlier that morning and had words with him about the blood types, trying, hoping to see if there was any possible way that all this cover-up wasn't needed that maybe just maybe...

John plus Lou equaled Evie.

But it didn't. Evie wasn't Johns, her blood type different; and so, skulduggery was required, unscrupulous yes but required for Lou and Evie's welfare and happiness.

Brian had never seen the lad so focused on something that wasn't music or himself. Louise was now George's sole focus and as Brian rang a few contacts he mused to himself that finally George realised Louise was more than a tedious interloper .... that she was his family, his responsibility to protect.

The relevant information passed along, Brian settled into the morning checking the mail, praising the small group of staff on their continued good work, checking itineraries and the upcoming tour details. Brian leaned back in his office chair as George paced the room and saw a man taking shape.
George was changed, this thing with Louise had made George step up, take charge and it was good to see. Although if he ever tried to drag an under prepared Brian out of the bathroom half clothed again he would be put on fan mail opening duty for a month...maybe two!

George was pleased as punch (and Brian relieved too~ George was driving him nuts!) when an hour before lunchtime, hand delivered by bicycle courier no less, all the necessary offical looking paperwork was delivered in a plain brown envelope.

"Where is she?" George stepped in the front door of the flat. John, Paul and Richy all lounging about on the floor with Eve toddling between them.

"In the bathroom having a shower" John watched George place the envelope on the coffee table and take his jacket off, the lad looked knackered but happy, maybe something good would happen soon.

"So George what's in the package?" Paul leaned over and went to grab the envelope but George swiped it up quickly, bothered that these boys would likely take over and run the show. This was his deal, his sister, his responsibility. "Oh come on, we can have a gander, can't we?"

"No Paul, you cannot have a gander. I'm going to sit in the bedroom and wait for Lou, if that's alright John?" George spun on his heel not waiting for John to even open his mouth. As he darted down the hall he heard the shower turn off, Lou would be back soon and he would make her happy again.

"Oh Georgie! You scared me half to death, are you alright?" Louise walked to the mirror and brushed her hair, slow strokes, methodical. Keeping her eyes averted, she ignored the lump in her throat and the way George had acted toward her yesterday. "What's wrong? Cat got your tongue?" Louise let a smile settle on her face for appearances sake but it didn't reach her eyes, her heart just wasn't in the mood for joking or laughing, nothing was right, nothing.

"Come. Sit Louise" George tapped the bed as Lou replaced her brush to its spot on the dresser, picking up her favourite bracelet she clipped it to her wrist and dragged her feet to stand by George at the bed. Lou gave up any pretence and thought of bickering with George and fell beside him on the bed, immediately she was hugged and kissed.

"I'm sorry I acted so rash yesterday. I was selfish, forgive me?" George picked Lou's hand up and held hands with her it was so weird, she was his sister. Brothers and sisters, did not hold hands! But today he did, today he held his sisters hand and kissed her cheek and as she put her head on his shoulder George hugged her tight. "I have something for you. I hope you don't mind but I wanted to help fix this. Make it official"

With eyes blinking Lou looked up at George perplexed. Thinking this something was some sort of trinket or silly card with a humorous antidote written on it.
It wouldn't work to lift her spirits if it was.
Today would need a miracle to do that.

Lou slid her finger under the seal and let the contents rain on her lap.

Fingers tightened comforting around her shoulder as she shakily lifted a birth certificate. A new one that she hadn't seen before. Johns name pride of place and then yet another document. An official looking letter from a pathology agency stating the blood types of Miss Evie Lennon, Missus Louise Lennon and a Mister John Lennon matched making them the biological parents of one little girl named Evie Julia Lennon, the little girl they all loved to pieces.

Fingers shaking and heart racing Lou looked up into Georges eyes not really understanding how George managed to get new birh papers let alone a pathology report. George grinned the most beautiful brotherly lovely grin he could and Lou let hers slowly match.

Whatever this letter was. Wherever it came from. It didn't matter. All that mattered was that it made her feel whole and completely relieved and she thought, just maybe, there was an angel looking down upon them after all.

She launched at George as the letter and certificate scattered to the floor, hugging him, cuddling him tight, planting girly sisterly kisses on his cheeks over and over again. So happy he was here and not upset; and he had gifts wonderful, wonderful gifts that filled a big hole in her soul and gave her hope that her family could stay real.

John heard it- happiness.

Glorious happiness wrapped in Lou's laughter that he didn't think would be possible after all that yesterday and last night had delivered, but he was wrong, Louise was laughing, screeching actually, in elation.

He had to get him some of that... John bound down the hall.

George was hunched over gathering papers she had scattered and Lou was bouncing on the bed tears on her face but a smile as wide as the Thames. John jumped up and hugged her bouncing like looneys they were and it was fucking awesome, smashing her with his kisses and he grinned along with her too.

He didn't care what George had done. How he had done it. All that mattered was George had come through.

George the brat little brother, the kid that annoyed Louise and him every day had made this- a beautiful face light with euphoria again.

George had turned desperation and fear into cheer and wonderful beautiful laughter. John jumped down and picked George up in a big bear hug, planting a sloppy kiss on his cheek much to Georges mortification.

Everything would be ok.
