"Well that was delicious. Where'd I leave me guitar?"
John stood up abruptly, the chair scratching noisily on the stained timber floor, his hurried movements bellying his rapid consumption of the meal.
He had been muttering the whole time, jotting words down on a napkin after begging for a pen from the waiter early in the meal, now he was overly impatient and wanting to hurtle off back to the room in search of his beloved guitar.
John had inspiration.
And nothing could stop John when he had inspiration.
The restaurant around them was timber panelled with huge stone pitched fireplaces both ends, surrounded by couches for lounging relaxed and gazing into the flickering flames- romantic, and on any of the other night, John would lose himself to the dancing firelight while sipping his wine and waiting for his meal.
But not tonight.
The meal of venison and deep red wine, something John and Lou weren't used too but tried anyway. It was nice, strong tasting, not something instead of bangers and mash but for a change, a meal out- nice. Lou tasted the meal, John sat impatiently woofing it down, in his haste to get the music that was caged inside-out.
"Dessert Johnny?" Louise looked lovely, the sweater which fit perfectly snug accentuating her assets and before coming down for the meal John had wanted to stay in the room, rip it back off of her and starve, but dinner was pre-arranged, George and Judy were waiting. So he was starved of her instead.
"Bring it along luv. George come 'ed leave the girls to sort the sweets. Bring us a bottle or two of that nice wine, Lou" John fleetingly kissed her cheek and she scowled at his frantic movements, but she knew.
She knew he had an itch that wouldn't go away, the itch wouldn't go away without his getting the thoughts and sounds from his darling head.
"Is he always that...." Judy smiled waving a hand about, as they glanced over the dessert menu.
"Impatient, distracting ..... annoying" Lou looked about for the waiter, he was hovering a moment ago, now the place was like a desert.
"I was going to say creative" Judy smiled again as Louise giggled at her berating of John. "But yes, I see it could be overwhelming and .... annoying"
"You can't derail him in moments like these and let me tell Judy... I've tried all sorts of womanly wiles" Judy clutched Lou's arm with wide eyes, no one spoke about things like this in her circle of friends. Lou wasn't being crass or anything just hilarious in her words "Even tried a fancy strip-tease once... with these brand-new crotch-less knickers and bra complete with bloody gold tassels! Didn't even see me, did he"
Lou paused and sighed yet smiling with remembered thoughts of his funny ignorance to her endeavours at the time "That was 'I Feel Fine' I think.... yea you know the one..." Lou leaned across the table grinning and started singing quietly watching Judy's face taking it all in "...... Baby says she's mine, you know / She tells me all the time, you know / She said so / I'm in love with her and I feel fine and there I am ignored, standing starkers in the centre of the living room and he's writing I'm in love with her shite!"
Judy was quiet for a few moments and Lou thought she may have overstepped the boundaries of propriety. Finally Judy shook Lou's arm again then burst out in laughter. Nope didn't overstep nothing.
Lou stood up and waved to the waiter, he was chatting up the lady cleaner.
Laden down with chocolate delicacies and three bottles of wine, one for later. Lou and Judy were laughing as they entered the room.
