1.1 "I'm Back"

Adelaide's pov

At the Mystic Falls Founder's Fest. Night. 

I looked around at the lights they had hung up as decorations and smiled softly. People were walking around, enjoying themselves. There was this smell and my eyes looked around for it. There was a guy, he had cut himself on something... the smell of blood was coming from him. The veins under my eyes came out before i heard a scream from behind me. 

The second i turned around pain hit my body like a train and i doubled over and held my head, grimacing. I cried out in pain, trying to concentrate but i fell to my knees instead. 

Someone walked closer to me and i saw the person's shoes before i looked up. 

"John?" i pressed out in pain. 

He just smiled before he slammed a syringe into my neck and everything went black.

I coughed out as i slowly woke up, my body felt like i got hit by a bus. I recognized John's voice as he was talking to someone. More people were pouring something around the room. I squinted my eyes and realized i was in some kind of basement and the smell of gasoline hit me. More people were lying around passed out - more vampires. 

John looked at the girl in the ground  "Anna. "

Then he took a stake out and i frowned. 

She was crying and begging for her life. 

John kneeled down to her and drove the stake through her heart before pouring gasoline over her body. The rest of the men walked out. I looked away from her. I knew her, she was a good girl - she didn't deserve this. The sound of a match snapped me back to reality and i saw John throwing it at her body, lighting it on fire. The fire spread and he left. 

"Adelaide?"

My head snapped around and i froze "Damon?"

He was lying on the ground, coughing because of the smoke. 

"Damon" my stomach dropped. 

The fire was spreading fast, vampires were crying out as they burned alive...they must have weakened them with vervain. 

I groaned, moving onto my knees before standing up, coughing out "Damon!"

Then i walked over to him while he tried to stand up but was too weak and tripped. I caught him before he hit the ground and put his arm around my shoulder. I wrapped my arm around his middle before looking around, trying to see through the smoke. 

Thank god that the vervain didn't have any strong effect on me. 

"Come on" i coughed out and lead him over to the stairs before stopping. They were covered in flames. 

Damon coughed out "This is not good"

He hit his face in my shoulder to keep himself from breathing in the smoke. 

I took a step back before speeding us up the stairs and breaking us through the door with the last strength i had. 

We both flew through the door and landed on the ground. He fell to his knees, doubling over, trying to breathe.

I looked at him while calming my breath. 

Footsteps were coming closer, fast. I looked at Damon for a second before speeding behind the next building, leaning against it. I looked around the corner and frowned. Stefan. 

Next to him was a dark skinned girl and.... my sister? No, wait, that must be her doppelganger. 

I raised an eyebrow as i eavesdropped them. 

Stefan asked confused as he helped up Damon  "Who the hell got you out of there?"

Damon leaned against the wall, looking around..probably looking for me. His eyes were wide ...as if he wasn't sure if it had actually been me. 

"Damon, who are you searching for?" asked a confused Stefan. 

Damon looked at his brother for a second before saying calmly "Adelaide"

Stefan's whole body tensed up as his eyes widened. 

i smirked. 

The doppelganger looked at both of them confused. 

"What?" Stefan's voice suddenly broken.

Damon just nodded "You heard me. Adelaide"

Stefan shook his head "This isn't funny, Damon"

"I am not trying to be funny." Damon said through gritted teeth. 

Stefan growled "I'm serious, Damon"

Damon looked at him, serious  "so am i"

Stefan shook his head, not believing his brother  "That's impossible."

Damon didn't say anything to that. 

Stefan tried to argue  "Damon ,The last time we saw her was..."

Damon sighed "1864"

My eyes widened surprised at Damon's straight up lie. 

The doppelganger asked confused "who is Adelaide?"

Stefan ignored her" if she's alive and here then.."

Damon took a deep breath ".....The other one is around, too"

Stefan sighed, annoyed "great"

The Doppelganger asked even more confused "would please anyone tell me who Adelaide is?"

I rolled my eyes.

Stefan took a deep breath, trying to calm himself. 

Damon looked at his brother worried "You okay, brother?"

Stefan just walked away.

The girl ran after him "Stefan!"
