Four Years Later

Mia's POV

"Hurry up, Rach!!" I groaned, leaning against her locker.

"I'm nearly done!! I'm not taking that long, so stop complaining!!" She muttered, gathering her various books from the mess she called a locker.

"You've taken like 20 minutes already!! Hurry up before someone comes and tries to talk to us!!" I complained.

"Okay, look I'm finished, all done!" She said, slamming the door of her locker shut.

"Thank god. I don't think I can stand another second in this hellhole!!" I muttered.

"You are so negative!! You know, you used to love school, and you used to always be happy and peppy!! What happened to that Mia?" She asked, rather patronisingly.

"I'm glad she's gone. I don't think I could handle myself if I was that peppy." I shivered just at the thought of it.

I'd changed a lot in the past four years. From a school-keen little girl with pigtails, I'd become a little less 'well behaved' as such and my style had changed a lot. I probably wouldn't be recognisable to my 11 year old self, and of that, I was glad.

My hair was now quite long and really wavy, and it was a rich auburn colour- to match my eyes . My skin was a kind of caramel colour- I was half Indian after all..

I was still really short, probably not that much taller than I was when I was 11 which was just plain embarrassing.

My dress sense was completely different, I had gotten into indie music and styles which was entirely different to my previous 'Oh, I'm going to wear pigtails and skirts for the rest of my life' style.

I wasn't totally indie though, I still did love to kickback and wear a dress in the summer.

I turned to look at Rachel and she'd changed a lot too- she had grown a lot taller whereas I was annoyingly short. Her attitude and personality were quite similar but she looked completely different. Her hair had been bleached a little by the sun and her previously brunette hair had a golden blonde tint to it. She was quite athletic so she was really skinny- whereas when she was younger she'd had that tiny bit of puppy fat.

Nonetheless, she was stunning now.

Even though we'd both changed a lot, we were still best friends and although sometimes it didn't seem like it, we loved eachother like sisters.

"Come on, can I go say bye to Jason? Pleaseee?" Rachel asked, not that I had a choice.

"Ugh, fine." I groaned. Jason was her boyfriend and he was so incredibly annoying. Captain of the football team and all that. He was so 'perfect' apart from the fact that he was so incredibly dumb. And rowdy. Like an overexcited puppy.

We made our way over to Jason, who was surrounded by a group of peppy cheerleaders, as usual.

"Hey baby!" He said to Rachel as we approached him.

And of course Rachel received numerous death glares from the cheerleaders that wanted to date her oh-so-perfect boyfriend.

I kept my distance- I was not a fan of those cheerleaders- or Jason for that matter.

I stood, leaning against a locker, inspecting my nails as I waited for Rachel to finish talking to Jason.

I looked over and they were kissing.

Ew.

"Are you done yet!?" I called out to her, making her tear herself away from Jason.

"Now I am.." She muttered under her breath as she joined me and we made our way home.
