Ethan's POV

"Mia, please just give me a chance. Give me five minutes, just please, hear me out?" I asked, walking after Mia as she paced faster and faster away from me.

Suddenly, she stopped.

"Five minutes." She sighed, turning on her heel, and placing her hand on her hip. I smiled- I couldn't help it- she was so cute at a tiny 4'11- I was 5'9 so I towered over her.

"Come here.." I gestured for her to come over to where I was stood.

She closed the gap with three steps.

I opened my mouth, preparing my speech- for the five minutes she was giving me, and I felt a pair of arms wrap themselves around me.

I looked down to see Mia hugging me, her head buried in my chest. It was a second before I reacted and wrapped my arms around her, engulfing her petite body in a hug.

"I missed you, Ethan.." She whispered into my chest, so quietly that I don't think I was meant to hear it.

"I missed you too- don't you ever doubt that, because I really did.." I whispered, resting my chin on the top of her head.

"ETHAN!" A voice called. Ugh, thanks Grayson. Way to ruin a moment.

"Eth, we have to go. Now. Turns out half the girls here know who we are and are causing a disruption with the football game. We basically just got kicked out.." He said, sighing, motioning for me to go with him.

I didn't really have a choice - Grayson and I would probably get in trouble if we were caught here after having been kicked out- and we were due to attend this school for the next few weeks so we couldn't already earn a bad reputation.

I knew Mia would be mad but I couldn't really do anything about it.

I pulled away from her embrace and headed over to Grayson.

"Bye Mia!!" He called over at her. I didn't turn around, knowing that I was blushing after Mia had finally shown a sign that she was well, aware of my existence, and the hug we shared gave me a sense of hope.

Maybe I actually had a chance.

I walked away with Grayson, unable to remove the huge smile that had appeared across my face.

"DUDE!" Grayson shouted, laughing, as soon as we were out of Mia's hearing range.

"You did it! I'm so freaking happy for you!! Did you tell her everything!?" He asked, almost exuberant.

I chuckled slightly.

"Didn't get that far, idiot, because you came along and butted in!!" I explained, laughing again.

"Oh, jeez, bro, I'm so sorry.." He said, and what shocked me is that he genuinely seemed sorry about it.

"Dude, its cool, I'm just happy she actually acknowledged my existence. I mean, that's pretty much a win!" I exclaimed, buzzing.

After the game

Rachel's POV

"Hey, baby, you played really well out there. You did me proud- it doesn't matter if you didn't win.." I approached Jason, in attempt to comfort him, just knowing he'd be upset over the team's loss.

"I don't care. You got in the way of us winning." He said coldly and aggressively.

"Jase, baby, what did I do?" I asked, backing away slightly, a little scared.
