this is a compilation of books that i think are inspiring and very well-written, and would recommend for every soul out there. :) this list will be updated every time i read something good that i want to share!

the lord of the flies - william golding

a classic, impactful novel from 1954. a group of british schoolboys are stranded on an uninhabited island, separated from modern civilisation; despite their efforts to establish order and solidarity, they start falling apart and descend into savagery ... "by day they inhabit a land of bright fantastic birds and dark blue seas, but at night their dreams are haunted by the image of a terrifying beast. as the boys' delicate sense of order fades, so their childish dreams are transformed into something more primitive, and their behaviour starts to take on a murderous, savage significance."

all the light we cannot see - anthony doerr

winner of pullitzer prize for fiction 2015. a beautiful story that takes place during the 2WW. we meet marie-laure, a blind girl for whom the world is a maze, and whose life is brutally interrupted when the germans invade her hometown paris. werner is an orphan from germany, who is destined to work in the coal mines until he joins hitler youth. "the stories of marie-laure and werner illuminate the ways, against all odds, people try to be good to one another." books and movies rarely make me cry, but this one makes rivers flow from my eyes every time.

the little prince - antoine de saint-exupery

published 1943; originally le petit prince, it is a simple novella that touches on many deep subjects, such as love, loneliness and friendship; it is no wonder this is one of the best-selling books ever published. a tale about a young little prince who visits the planet earth: here in the desert, he meets a stranded pilot and shares his story little by little, about the rose for whom he harbours love, the fox who taught him how to tame, and inhabitants of asteroids he has visited.

the perks of being a wallflower - stephen chbosky

a coming-of-age story centering around charlie, who is a freshman and is caught between trying to live his life and trying to run away from it. he is introverted, socially awkward and his first year of high school will become a rollercoaster ride. this book is genuinely heart-warming and i recommend it to everyone. the film adaption is really good as well.
