timid. shy. stolen glances that last half a second, like the shadow of a butterfly wing. somehow i see you everywhere. somehow your head turns when i step through the doors or brush past your friends. these corridors — they seem too narrow. you make the walls shift closer. and yet the distance between us — the million light years in the breadth of two feet — it makes my heart bristle. you are rolling green hills, a dark blue sky and sunset gold. you are all gentle eyes and a butter voice. light in human form. a living phantom of a love i've never had. we keep walking parallell roads in the same direction, but never do our paths cross.
