"You alright?" Chris looks concerned.
Why would Jenny call Chris and not the police? Well, we're street racing, which is illegal. If she were to call the police then we would all get into serious trouble. Especially me who already has a record.
"He just grabbed me and-" Jenny says as holding back her tears.
"You're fine" Chris reassures "you hear me! He can't hurt you"
I open my eyes wide before taking a step towards the man who laid on the floor. "Do you know him?" I ask them as taking a deep breath.
I don't have a good view of him. I know that he's drunk and a brunette, but that's it. It's too dark to see anything.
"No" Chris shakes his head, "how did you do that?"
"Do what?" I cock a brow at him.
Chris blinks. "That shit you just did on him," he specifies, "it looked like you knew exactly what you were doing"
When you're in prison, people will attack you. My father taught me from a young age to defend myself. Which I don't know if it was a good thing or a bad thing, seeing as I used it in street fights back in New York.
God, I just assaulted this guy, in front of my new friends.
"I took some self-defence as a kid," I say as facing Jenny. "Are you alright? Did he hurt you?"
"No he didn't" she shakes her head "he tried to...but thank god you pee fast or else I really could have been in trouble" she sniffs.
"How did you get here so fast?" I glance at Chris in confusion.
"I was in the men's room" he explains as taking a step towards me, "Eva you're bleeding"
Ugh of course I am.
"There's glass all over the place" Jenny sniffs, "you must have cut yourself"
"That might need stitches," Chris says as taking a closer look at my forehead.
Jenny was just attacked by some random guy, my bleeding head should be the least of their worries.
"I'm fine honestly," I assure, "its Jenny we should be worrying about"
"Let's go find the others" Chris demands as the three of us begins heading back to the car. "Ned carries a first aid kit in his car"
I nod before we all begin walking in silence, the cold wind sending shivers down each of our spines. Jenny is in shock, I'm anxious and exhausted, and Chris is most likely confused.
"Hey, where have you guys been?" Ned's asks when we approach him slowly.
"Some drunk was harassing Jenny," Chris explains.
"Lucky Eva was there" Jenny hugs herself.
"Eva you're bleeding" Blake points out.
For fuck sake.
"We need your first aid kit," Chris tells Ned.
"The door's open," Ned responds.
"Thanks" Chris takes my hand, walking me a few steps to Ned's car.
I take a seat in the backseat of Ned's car whilst Chris takes the first aid kit from the glove compartment. He sits beside me and begins dressing my head wound in silence.
"I'm sorry," I say in a hushed tone, "for the trouble that I've caused you guys tonight"
I handled the situation wrong. I've made a mess. I'm not in my old neighbourhood anymore or prison. It's now acceptable here to get into fist fights with people. Why didn't I just call the police or something?
