"Hey beautiful," Chris greets "we missed you at school today"
"I'm not feeling so good" I sigh as laying in my bed with my cell pressed against my ear.
After attacking my aunt and finding out that my father is looking for me, I didn't feel like going to school.
"Well, are you still coming to the game tonight?" Chris questions. "Its the last game of high school football that I'll ever play"
"Well since you put it that way" I half as standing up "I'll consider it"
I slowly walk towards my bedroom door, with my cell phone pressed against my ear. Geez, I could really use some pie from last night.
"Thank you," he says "now Ned may call to pressure you into some stupid pre and post-game traditions... You can say no...don't feel pressured by him"
Ned could never pressure me into something that I didn't want to do.
"I won't be" I chuckle as opening my bedroom door to see a familiar face "I gotta go"
"Okay, I'll see you later than," Chris says as I end the call.
"Angel" the man greets as entering my bedroom.
How the hell does he know where I live? And how the fuck did he get into my house?
"What are you-" I start.
"Jason gave me a call," Sam says "telling me about what happened last night"
For fuck sake.
"You have nothing to worry about" I roll my eyes as walking across my bedroom.
"Jason seems to think differently" Sam genuinely looks concerned as I turn to face him.
"That's because Jason's Jason" I hold his gaze as Sam takes his hands out of the pockets of his jacket, "This house call is completely unnecessary!"
Suddenly Sam takes a few steps towards me slowly. I don't question it as he traces my chin with his right index finger and places his left hand on my lower back. His lips come only an inch away from mine as he lowers me to my queen size bed. My heart begins to race as I quickly find myself pinned under my ex-boyfriend
"what are you doing?" I ask.
He looks at me like he used to, causing my chin to quiver when I try to protest. His scent is strong. I don't want to remember what he smells like, because I as soon as I remember the little things, it doesn't take long for the big things to follow.
"I forgot what it was like being this close to you" he whispers as our faces sit only an inch apart.
I pause for a second, looking into his eyes. After a moment of weakness, I take a deep breath.
"Get off of me" I roll him off me, before sitting up on the edge of my bed.
"You put a knife to her neck Ang" he cried as we both stood up simultaneously.
And moment over.
"Yes I'm aware of that" I throw my hands in the air, glaring at Sam.
"You need to control that temper before someone gets hurt..." He trails off.
I gulp, clenching my fists in fury.
"Again right?" I finish. "...look don't worry about me...I'm keeping my distance from everybody just in case my dad shows up"
Sam's eyes widen a fraction as he raises a brow. "So you finally agree that he is the devil incarnate?" He folds his arms.
"No" I shake my head slowly "I love my father but I know that he can be a hurricane...taking down everything in his path"
There's a moment of silence as Sam takes a step towards me. Jesus, what now?
"....You need to leave town Angel" he begs, taking both my hands.
He looks genuinely concerned. I can tell he cares.
"He won't hurt me" I sigh.
"You don't know that!" He cries, dropping my hands and taking a few steps away from me "This guy is dangerous"
"He's my father!" I scream.
"He's Satan himself" Sam argues "didn't Jason inform you of their last in counter?"
I draw a blank.
"What? What happened? What are you talking about?" I cry.
"He put Jason in the hospital," he says simply before sighing "he's bad news...just promise me that you'll get as far away from this place as possible"
I can't promise that.
Sam takes a step towards me - making me gulp. He makes me nervous.
"I can't" I slowly shake my head.
"You heard what I said about Jason" Sam clenches his jaw.
"Yes, I heard you!" I roll my eyes "but I'm suddenly reevaluating everything-"
"Your dad put Jason in a God damn hospital bed! What else do you need to know?" He raises his voice.
"I'll be careful!" I yell "Just leave, now!" I order.
Sam sighs, taking a few steps towards me. His green eyes look into my soul and his lips sit only an inch away from mine.
He drops his gaze to my lips. My heart races.
"Be careful, Angel" he lowers his voice.
He then steps back and leaves my room.
I sigh, falling back on to my bed.
My dad put Jason in the hospital? Why? I remember Jason mentioning something about him and our dad, but I never knew things were that bad after I left.
Suddenly my mind goes back nine years earlier.
I stood there. Glaring out the living room window, watching as my father gets thrown at the back of a police car. His hands twisted behind his back, as he attempted to fight the police. Screaming. I remember a lot of screaming. I don't remember what they were screaming about, though I remember exactly how their screams sounded. I was just glaring out that window. Watching the entire thing.
My father was reckless. Hell, he still is.
I clench my fists in annoyance. A hurricane is coming. He will take down everything in his path. My friends, my family, and he won't stop until he finds me.
