It's three am when I shoot my eyes open. My eardrums feel with screams from the living. I climb down the staircase where I find Aunt Laura, Jason and my grandma.
"Shit" Aunt Laura cries as pressing her forehead against the wall "God no...please no"
"What's going on?" I ask slowly in fear as my heart begins to beat twice as fast.
Aunt Laura turns to face, holding back her tears. "It's my dad...your grandpa...he was supposed to check out today...but he had another heart attack" her voice breaks "he didn't survive this one"
My eyes widen before taking a step back. I look over to my grandma in fear. I shake my head violently as taking her hand.
"What's going to happen to her," I ask slowly.
"I have to put her in a home" Aunt Laura admits.
"What no!" I argue as turning to my aunt.
"Look at your brother Angel" she begs. I turn my head to Jason who stands beside Aunt Laura. His eye is severely bruised, grandma did that to him. "its time"
"Time for what?" I cry, "did grandma do this to you?" I ask Jason.
"Your grandmother attacked him" she struggles to say "my mother attacked him...and now dad's dead Evangeline...I can't take care of her, I honestly can't"
No no no no no.
"You're not serious" I shake my head.
"Its time Angel," Jason says "to put her in a home"
No.
"You're kidding" I cry.
"She's dangerous" my aunt explains.
I nod reluctantly "I get that but isn't there any other way?"
I love my grandmother. She'll fall apart if she's not around her family -
even if she doesn't recognize us."I'm afraid not, sweetie" she sniffs.
I sigh. She wants to put my grandmother in a home. "So what happens now, huh?"
"I start with the funeral arrangements tomorrow then we can transfer her to a good home after the funeral" Aunt Laura looks down.
I look over to my sweet grandma who stands there like a confused child.
***
A few days later was my grandpa's funeral. I stand there wearing a black shift dress, black pumps, with a small birdcage veil hat, that covered a small section of my face. Whilst Jason wears a black suit.
There were surprisingly a lot of people there. Jason and I kinda felt like a fish out of water the entire time, after all, neither one of us knew him well.
"My husband, where is he?" My grandma whispers during the service.
She has been asking me the same question every day since he died. At first, we would tell her what happened, but after a while, it just got too difficult.
Now we just respond with "he was tired so he's taking a nap" I tell her.
A part of hopes that she's never reminded of his death. After three days of having to break the news to her over and over again, I understand how cruel it actually is to let her relive finding out about his death.
I don't know how one lives without their significant other. Maybe it's a good thing that her memories of him are going to fade away, perhaps all pain will fade along with him. That way my grandma can live the rest of her life without all this hovering above her like a grey cloud.
I look over to my brother during the service. It seems that we are the only ones who haven't shed any tears. It could be because we barely knew him, but I think it's because we both know very well what it's like to lose people.
Jason and I are pros at dealing with the death of a loved one compared to most teenagers. It's something that we have been looked down on most of our lives for, but I think it means that we're not deeply affected by death.
I look over my shoulder when I see her. Trisha's long brown hair and bright blue eyes, as she walks around the cemetery. She locks eyes on me.
My heart rate increases. Dropping my gaze to my shoes, I take a deep breath in and hold it in fear. When I shoot my head up, she's gone.
I sigh in relief.

A/N
Hi all,
The first half of this chapter is an edited version of the original and the rest is new. The grandfather's death is the most significant change in this whole book. I'm aiming to keep everything else similar because I don't like rearranging events.
Please let me know which version you prefer in relation to her grandfather's death.
If you're a first time reader please let me know what you think of this book so far :)
