Things were finally cementing back together, slowly, but getting there. At lunch there was no tension or bad blood, Jace and Simon even cracked some jokes together! But one corner of the table was filled with silence, a pit of darkness and despair.
Alec sat hunched over the table just staring down at his untouched food.
"Alec you need to eat," Izzy said, breaking away from Simons gaze.
He lifted his head and turned it in the groups direction, his movement was painfully slow as if his head was the weight of a bowling ball. He didn't say anything, and he didn't need to; one look in his eyes told them everything. They could see the sorrow, the regret, the anguish in his eyes. Just one glance revealed his world of darkness. Fatigue engraved on his worn face, exposing to the group how badly he was actually coping.
It had been a couple of weeks since anyone had seen Magnus. Alec was unsure what pain was worse; the shock of what happened or the ache for what never will. He didn't know where Magnus was, if he was ok or if he was coming back. He was broken and the one thing that could put him back together was gone.
Tears started to trickle down his face, he was took caught up in his own mind to notice, until everyone swarmed him; hugging him, comforting him. Overwhelmed by all the attention, the contact, the same "its going to get better"speech. He pushed Jace away, who was about to hug him. "Just leave me alone," he shouted so loud the whole cafeteria was now staring at Alec having a break down . He got up from his chair, still shouting "I don't want you. Don't you understand? All i want is Magnus and because of you people i drove him away" he turned around to leave only to trip over his untied lace and smack his head on the table. Jace rushed over to him not taking what he'd said personally. "Alec he's going to come back,"
"I need him" He cried into Jace's shoulder "Not in the ways to survive, but in the ways that makes life worth living," he mumbled with such a wobbly voice even Jace shed a tear.
