How many times can someone fall in love in a lifetime? How many times does that love actually last? Or is it just the feeling of lust, the overpowering sensation of being wanted, desired, that
creates the allusion of being in love?
Jace had never been in love, that's probably why he hadn't realised his best friend, Alec, had fallen hard. But was the love Alec felt true or was it just because Jace was there?

"Alec move your fat arse, we are gunna be late for enrolment!" Jace shouted.

"Said the guy carrying non of the luggage up 5 flights of stairs," Alec grumbled, panted hard whilst marching up the stairs for the 3rd time with more bags.

"You lost the bet so you carry all the stuff up to the dorm," Jace laughed sinisterly.
"Dick," Alec groaned and toddled off.

A couple of metres before their assigned room, Alec tripped over what appeared to be thin air. His legs buckled giving him no support in a matter of seconds he was face down on the floor, a loud thud echoing through the hallway.
"Shit!" Alec spluttered, while trying to scrabble to his feet.
"Graceful," a unknown voice said from behind Alec. He jumped and turned to match a face to the voice. The voice was so elegant yet so masculine, he couldn't help but find it arousing. Stunned by the gorgeous man before him, he spat out "Jesus,"

"No, just me I'm afraid," the stranger chuckled "I'm Magnus,"
"Alec," he responded "Did you see..." Alec began to question but Magnus jumped in "See you fall?" Magnus teased.
"Yes" Alec sighed, grinning dopily at Magnus.
"You have a lovely smile," Magnus commented. A comment many would find odd but it made Alec feel warm, feel noticed.
Alecs smile widened, he stared into Magnus' eyes admiring their golden specks. Suddenly, a thought smacked Alec in the face: he's a man. Alec shook his head, trying to clear his mind but thoughts kept surfacing; how he longed for Jace a little too much to love him as a friend and how his heart started to beat a little faster when he talked to Magnus.
"I'm not gay!" He blurted out in frustration at his own mind, to which he got a few confused looks from the other students moving in. Alecs eyes widened, embarrassed by his unintended outburst.
"Said every closeted gay man ever" Magnus replied, attempting a joke to reassure Alec. Magnus had seen that look on Alecs face before, the fear, the realisation, the shame; he'd seen it on himself many years ago. "It's okay, theres no need to be ashamed." He said softly.
"I don't know what you're talking about." Alec spat coldly.
"Being gay isn't a sin, I'm bi and I'm living my best life" Magnus tried to reassure him again but cringed when he realised how cheesy it sounded.
Alec went silent, unsure of what to say.
"Well, goodbye Alexander," Magnus finally said, and turned to walk away. Alec was still processing, confused and overwhelmed, he shouted down the hall,
"Alec."

But Magnus was already gone.
