Weeks past and things started to calm in Alecs life, Magnus steered clear of certain topics as to not upset Alec.Magnus was walking back to his room from his morning jog when he bumped into Jace. "Oh hey! You're Magnus right, Alecs friend?"
"Yeah," Magnus said bluntly. His morning hadn't started particularly great which soured his mood massively. He couldn't get Alec off his mind throughout his whole run. He was consumed with jealousy of Jace, but he hated himself for being jealous- it became a viscous cycle. That's probably why he did what he did. He was right there, in front of him, the man standing between him and Alec. "Let him down gently," Magnus said, unexpectedly "What?" Jace questioned,
"Alec. He's in love with you," Jace laughed abnoxiously.
"Thats rediculous," to which Magnus laughed also,
"You're his best friend and you didn't know he was gay," Magnus flounced away leaving Jace utterly confused. At first Magnus felt triumphant, like he'd won some sort of competition between him and Jace but then he realised what he'd done, what he'd done to Alec.Alec rolled over in bed, his head pounding from the alcohol consumed the night before. He grabbed the bottle at the foot of his bed and drank the reminates of alcohol left. He told himself every student drank that much, that everyone drank away their feelings. Jace burst into his room, with his usually chipper face as if Magnus hadn't just dropped a bomb shell. His smile quickly faded once the smell of sweat, and drink kicked in "Jesus Alec, it stinks and it's noon. What are you doing still in bed?. What's going in with you? This is the forth time this week I've found you drunk in the morning." Jace bombarded Alec with questions, concerned for his well being.
"Three" Alec corrected,
"What?"
"Three times not four. Its noon," Alec mocked, closing his eyes and rolling over.
Jace ignored the comment and continued with what he came to say. "Look, Alec, I don't know what's going on with you but maybe you should get some help. Day drinking is a slippery slope, buddy. Is it because of your feelings?" Alec jerked up "What feelings?"
"For me? Magnus told me,"
Alec face sank. Alec had never felt his body tense more. All he wanted to was drink some more to forget what Magnus did.
"I'm flattered and I love you too but I'm not gay. I'm sorry. Magnus seems like a really cool guy. What about him?" Jace blabbered on, trying his best to show Alec he was cool with who he is. Alec was zoned out, Jace could have said anything, but Alec was only focusing on the fact that Magnus betrayed him. He got up and grabbed his jacket as Jace was mid way through a sentence."That bastard's dead to me,"
"You told him!" Alec slammed Magnus' door open. "You fucking told him!" Magnus froze, mid cleaning, nothing on but boxers. No more was needed to be said. Magnus knew exactly what he was talking about and knew Alec had good reason to be angry. Guilt written all over his face, he tried to justify his actions.
"I don't know why I did it Alec. I just wanted him to understand what you are going through," Magnus said putting down his cleaning supplies. Only then did Alec register Magnus' fasique and the way his boxers perfectly emphasised his bulge. Quickly he shook off those thoughts, replacing then with aggression.
"It wasn't your choice to say. I was meant to do it when I was ready," Alec sighed.
"But you don't love Jace, you love the idea of Jace. And... And Jace doesn't love you, he never will, Alec. Don't you get it? People like that will never love people like us," Magnus blurted out quite harshly.
Alec stood, stunned unable to choke out any words so he just stood. After awhile of awkward staring he spoke "That gives you no right to tell him. I cannot believe you. I fucking trusted you. Magnus, I don't trust anyone!" Alec screamed, totally losing his shit. Magnus could tell he made a huge mistake, "Alec," Magnus began but was cut off.
"No. I dont want to hear it. Don't buy me coffee, don't text me, don't even look at me,"
Alec started to storm off, shaking with rage but Magnus stopped him. "Alec please," he begged. "No," Alec shouted, pushing Magnus away. "Don't do that, don't spout some poetic shit, like you always do, and presume I'm gunna fall back into your lap," Alec stopped to breathe. Magnus stayed deadly quiet. "This time I'm the one who gets to walk away," Alec said, his tone calm for the first time in that conversation.Magnus needed time to collect his thoughts, to find a way to sincerely apologise and make it up to Alec.
But Alec was already gone.
