3 Weeks later

Katherine's POV

BANG!

I was jolted awake by the loud noise. Shit! Who was it? Had they come to get me?!?!

I scrambled out of bed, backing up against the wall in terror.

'Kath?'

I hadn't noticed that Nick was awake too, and he was staring at me in confusion. 'Katherine? What's wrong?'

'What the fuck was that noise, Nick?' I asked hysterically.

'Whoa, calm down.' He got out of bed, walking over to me. He put his hands on my shoulders. 'Calm down.'

'I can't, can you please just find out what that noise was?' I was freaking out.

He sighed and went over to the window.

'Oh, hi Jason... yeah, do you know what that noise was just then? Only, it woke us up, and my wife is freaking out right now.' He said to presumably Jason (our next door neighbour).

I heard Jason say something and Nick nodded.

'Okay. Thanks mate.' He turned to me. 'Chill out. It was Jason's back door. It's a bit broken, so they have to slam it.'

I nodded and tried to lower my heart rate. I was still shaking.

Nick was looking at me in concern. 'Are you alright? You seem really... jumpy.'

'Yeah, I'm fine, it just woke me up, that's all.' I smiled lightly, hoping he'd drop it.

'Okay.' He said and crossed the room to hug me. 'I'm gonna go down to make some breakfast. You want anything?'

'Erm, just coffee thanks.' I said.

He nodded and left the room.

I leaned against the wall. How long could this go on for? Nick was starting to notice. And I was sure that it wouldn't be long before I had a nervous breakdown.

I crossed the room and opened the sliding wardrobe. I then opened my suitcase at the bottom of the wardrobe, and took a familiar shoe-box out.

I opened it and picked up the first piece of paper, with the words Go diE BitCh on it.

I picked up another one and another. I took at least 10 pieces of paper containing  death threats on each. I moved onto a photograph with a note attached to it. The photograph was of me outside Calimov, taken from a distance. The note that was attached, said: I WILL GET YOU KATHERINE

I didn't know what to do. In the past few weeks, I'd been sent death threats, hate messages and promises of violence. Whoever, it was, they were out to get me. And I was scared out of my wits. I'd jump at every little sound, make sure I wasn't left alone in the house, and sleep with the lamp on my side of the bed switched on.

Nick was starting to notice, I was sure of it.

I put everything back in the shoe-box and put it back in my suitcase. Then I closed the wardrobe door and walked downstairs.

I heard voices, so Will must be up.

But when I heard my name mentioned, I stopped on the stairs.

'... Really worried about Katherine.' Nick was saying. 'She seems really jumpy.'

'What do you mean?' Will asked.

'Well, I don't know. Something's going on, I'm sure of it. Last night, I was almost asleep when a light turned on. After a while, I turned over and saw that Katherine had turned the bedside lamp on on her side. Since when does she do that? And this morning she freaked out because of a loud noise.' Nick explained. 'I'm worried.'

'Why don't you talk to her?' Will suggested.

'I've tried, but she keeps saying she's fine, when she clearly isn't.'

'I don't know dad.'

I sensed this was the end of the conversation, so I walked downstairs and into the kitchen, acting like I hadn't heard them. I was right; Nick knew something was up.

'Morning Will.' I said brightly.

'Morning.' Will nodded.

Nick handed me a cup of coffee.

'Thanks.' I said. 'I'm gonna go get ready for work.'

'Okay. By the way, I've got a board meeting today, at 10:45am.' He told me.

'Okay.' I internally sighed. This was going to be a long morning.
