Katherine's POV

'Are you sure you'll be alright on your own?' Kyle asked in concern as he stopped the car outside the house.

'Yes, I'll be fine on my own Kyle. Don't worry about me.' I smiled weakly.

'If you're sure.' He said as I got out the car. 'Take care of yourself sweetheart.'

'Thanks Kyle.' I said and walked to the door.

As soon as I saw him drive off, I unlocked the door and ran in. I had to be quick. I didn't know when Will would be getting back.

I rushed upstairs and opened my suitcase, chucking the shoebox out in the process. I then went to the wardrobe and got a handful of my clothes and put them in. This was a ruse, to make Nick think I was safe, then he wouldn't come looking for me. I then added a few possessions and closed the suitcase.

I changed out of my work clothes and changed into some light blue denim short shorts, a black sleeveless shirt and my black leather jacket. I also put on my black flat shoes and tied my hair into a ponytail.

I decided to leave Nick a note, as a further ruse. Plus, I couldn't leave without an explanation or at the very least, a goodbye. I grabbed a sheet of paper and a pen and wrote:

Nick,

I'm sorry. I'm so sorry to have done this to you, but there was no other way to do it. I can't do this anymore. I can't be with you the way you want me to. It will never work out and I don't want to stick around to get hurt by you. Besides. I know our marriage was a temporary one anyway, especially when there are hundreds of beautiful women who would give anything to be yours. You deserve a woman who can satisfy your every need and that woman was never going to be me. I'm sorry to have strung you along like this, this whole time, you don't deserve it. You're an amazing man Nick Clarke, who deserves to surround himself with amazing people.

I hope you will always be happy in your life.

Yours,

Katherine.

P.S. Just know that me leaving is best for both of us. Please don't try and look for me. Take care of yourself and enjoy your life.

With shaky hands, I folded it up, put it in an envelope, put his name on the front and left it on the bed.

Taking one last glance around the room, I dragged the suitcase out and downstairs before putting it in my car and getting into the drivers seat.

This is it, I thought, forcing myself not to look back as I drove away.

At least Nick was going to be safe.
