Nick's father, Peter want's a business deal with his friend, Mason. But Mason will only agree under one condition.

'You look amazing Katherine.' Maddy nodded approvingly, when I entered the living room.
I sighed. 'I still don't see why I've got to get all dressed up if I'm not going out tonight.'
'Ssh, like I said, you want to look good for Nick.' She said. 'Besides, you look fantastic. Blue is definitely your colour.' Her phone buzzed and she looked at it.
I was wearing dark skinny jeans with a simple royal blue top, paired with some blue heels and a statement necklace.

I checked my watch. It was nearly six. 'Nick should be back by now.'
'Really? You know how Nick is when he gets stuck in his work.' She raised an eyebrow. 'Or don't tell me you've domesticated him?'
'Hilarious.' I rolled my eyes. 'Look, do you think we should just head over the road? Just see if he's there?'
'Okay, okay. But if he isn't, we'll hang out there until he comes back. Nick's instructions for me were to make sure you have fun.' She said.
'Right. Let's go then.' I grabbed my bag, Maddy picked up her half-full wine and we left the house.
'The lights are all out.' Maddy commented as we headed over the road.
'Then we'll just chill out there til he get's back.' I replied, opening the door. I turned the hall light on.
'It's very quiet.' She added.
'No shit.' I said sarcastically. 'We're the only ones here.'
I hung my bag on the end of the banister and then opened the door to the living room and switched on the light.
The room lit up and a crowd of twenty people or so jumped out shouting, 'Surprise!'
I automatically took a step back as I took in my surroundings. The living room was completely decked out in decorations in the colour scheme blue and silver. I recognised most of the people here; Will, Eve, Lily, Viv, KT, Zac, Isadora, Michael, Emily, my parents, my aunt Estelle, Nick's parents, Ashton, Hollins, and Kyle.
Nick was stood nearest to the door, grinning. 'Happy birthday sweetheart.'
'Nick... What is this?' I asked in disbelief.
'A surprise for you, what else?' He chuckled. 'Thanks for stalling, Maddy, I wasn't sure if I'd get it done before Miss Stubborn here came back.' He said to Maddy.
I turned to her. 'You knew about this??'
'Did you really think I was getting you all glammed up for a movie night in with Nick?' She laughed. 'C'mon Katherine, you're supposed to be smart!'
I shook my head, but I was smiling. 'This is amazing Nick! Thank you so much!' I hugged him.
He chuckled and hugged me back, wrapping his arms around my waist. 'You're welcome Kath. I love you.'
