Sick

1 week later

She looked awful. Her usually styled blonde hair looked limp and dull. Dark circles framed her equally dull eyes, suggesting she hadn't slept well. She looked thinner as well.
Despite everything, a surge of sympathy went through me. She was clearly sick.

'Hello Rebecca.' I said casually.

She slowly walked over and sat opposite me. 'What are you doing here?'

'To talk.' I shrugged, though my heart was going a bit faster. I couldn't look her in the eyes without remembering that time when she'd tried to kill me, after all. It was kind of hard to forget.

'Is Nick here?' She asked. I noticed how her eyes had lit up slightly when she said his name. It was obvious that she was still in love with him.

'No, sorry, he's busy with work. Will would have come, but he's at college.' I explained.

'Oh.' She looked disappointed.

In truth, I'd asked Nick to come with me, but he refused to see Rebecca. He was still angry. He still couldn't forgive her for trying to kill me.

'Why do you want to talk?' Rebecca asked, not looking at me.

'How long have you've been ill? Nick's brother told us you'd been going to a mental facility.' I started.

'I don't know. I don't want to talk about this. Look, I'm going back to my room.' She said tonelessly, standing up.

'Wait, Rebecca.'

She looked at me.

'Look, I admit I'm still angry at what you did. But just so you know, if you ever want to seek forgiveness, my doors are open for you.'

She nodded slightly before walking away.

When I finally got home, the house was empty. There was a note on the fridge:
Gone to Calimov. Back later.
Nick x

I decided to make myself a coffee before taking a hot shower and putting a movie on.
With that, I made a caramel latte and headed upstairs to get in the shower.
But just as I got upstairs, a sudden sensation in my stomach made me rush into the bathroom before I was violently sick.
What the hell? I didn't feel ill. Why did I just-?
I shrugged it off, getting into the shower. Maybe it was that takeaway we had last night.
Once, I was out of the shower, I got dressed into some short denim shorts and a striped tank top. I decided to leave my damp hair to dry naturally.
I realised I was hungry and headed downstairs, to make some noodles or something.
I heated the noodles in some boiling water while I sipped my latte.
I didn't understand why I wanted to eat not long after I'd been sick. Maybe my period was due.

I stirred the noodles, before getting out cheese, pepper and garlic salt for them. Yeah, very adventurous.
As I drained the noodles and began stirring in seasoning, suddenly something occurred to me.
My period was late.

Come to think of it, when was my last one?
I'd been so preoccupied lately that I hadn't actually thought about it.
My stirring slowed down as my mind raced.

Could it be possible...?
