"Wake up sunshine!" I heard my mom scream while she opened my bedroom door.

"What time is it?!" I asked annoyed.

"It's time for you to wake up, get dressed and go to camp!" she said, excited.

"Mooom!" I whined. "Just give me five more minutes!"

"No! You have 15 minutes to be ready. I'll wait for you in the car." she said as she closed the door.

*15 minutes later*

As I close the car door and sit on the passenger's side, my mom says with a caring voice: "Aren't you excited?"

"I'm going to a camp with people I don't know, for a month. Am I supposed to be excited?". She turned the engine on and started driving.

"Don't think about it that way." she said a bit annoyed. "Zoe, I think it's time to make friends, fall in love!" she said with a petty tone.

"I HAVE FRIENDS, Mom." I answered a little bothered.

"Well yeah, but you've never been in a relationship, you've never shown interest in a boy." she said with concern in her voice. I had a boyfriend once,I just never told my parents. They would have made a big deal a about it. His name was Blake. Let's just say... it didn't end well.

"That's because I don't see the point of having a relationship if I'm going to end up being hurt."

"You don't know that." mom snapped back.

"Mom, I really don't want to argue right now. Let's just enjoy this last minutes before I go off to camp. Please." I said with a soft smile on my face.

"Alright." she said, smiling back.

After two and a half hours of laughing and joking around with my mom, we finally arrived. (The camp was far from home.)

My mom's laugh faded along with her smile when we got to the parking lot. I called my dad to say 'goodbye' since he was working. After a few minutes, we ended the call. My mom looked at me with a frown on her face.

"We're going to miss you." she said with watery eyes.

"Moom, don't cry. Come here!" I said to her as I approached her and hugged her tight.

"I'll miss you guys too." I said as we separated. She helped me get my luggage out of the car, which was A LOT.

I waved at her while she drove away, her car slowly disappearing from my sight.
